I have been a fan of Larry Clark since Tulsa....I am ten years his junior and am pleased to see, once again, how relevant his work continues to be. The young boys in this film are not actors. This is not a movie. It is a film which depicts the reality in which these boys live. Their innocence is a joy to behold. Their courage is inspiring. I do not feel this film is racist by any means as others have commented. These characters are not stereotypes. I am an ex-patriot of the LA area and know it well. The 'adventure' of these young boys is, I'm sorry to say, very real. I feel that this film was shot by a man who cared deeply for his subjects and I, for one, came away caring very deeply for these characters. This is not your typically 'entertaining' movie. For those who like their 'movie entertainment' spoonfed to them - don't go see this film. For those who want to see a realistic, yet loving, depiction of what happens when 'boundaries' are crossed in the big city of angels - go see wassup rockers. This is the kind of stuff they should teach in school. Excellent!
