Ratings: Sports, led by Fox's baseball World Series, top the week

4 hours ago | EW - Hollywood Insider.com | See recent EW.com - Hollywood Insider news »

It's a sporty kinda time out there in TV land, as evidenced by the top two shows on the broadcast networks for the week ending Nov. 8. Fox scored a home run with the final game in the World Series, which saw the New York Yankees beat the Philadelphia Phillies. The game drew 22.3 million viewers on Wednesday night to take the No. 1 position. NBC's perennially high-performing Sunday Night Football franchise—serving up a showdown between the Dallas Cowboys and the Philadelphia Eagles—followed right after that in the No. 2 spot with 21.9 million viewers. The highest-rated non-sporting event for the week—and the No. »

Melissa George joins "Lie to Me"

4 hours ago | AfterEllen.com | See recent AfterEllen.com news »

I was hoping Melissa George would find more work after getting the boot from Grey's Anatomy, but I guess I was looking for something a little more than this. Entertainment Weekly is reporting that Melissa will join the cast of Lie to Me as "an Anna Nicole Smith-type."

Melissa will play Clara Martin, "the sassy wife of an older billionaire who has been murdered" who takes control of his empire. As Michael Ausiello notes, "she's kinda nuts."

If anything, this will probably be a fun part to play, but I'd also love to see Melissa do something a little more bad ass. However, we can hold out hope she'll share a scene with Lie to Me's Zoe Landau, aka Jennifer Beals. But with Clara not showing up till the 11th episode of the second season's 13, she might not have that much screen time.

People's Choice Award Nominees: 'True Blood,' 'Gossip Girl' and the Usual Suspects

9 hours ago | buddytv.com | See recent BuddyTV news »

This morning the People's Choice Award nominations were revealed, and as always, it's populism at its best.  On the TV side, the nominees often look like the top of the Nielsen ratings list, with a few notable and surprising exceptions.  Shows like True Blood and Gossip Girl crept into the Favorite TV Actress categories while Favorite Sci-Fi/Fantasy TV Show features Lost, True Blood, The Vampire Diaries and Supernatural.

However, those are the very cool exceptions.  For the most part, the list is full of CSI, NCIS, Grey's Anatomy, Two and a Half Men and other top-rated shows.  Here are the major television nominees for this year's People's Choice Awards.

AlphaBits: J.J. Abrams Confident Of Long Life For 'Fringe'

11 hours ago | AirlockAlpha.com | See recent Airlock Alpha news »

Sure, Thursday's episode of "Fringe" wasn't exactly on everyone's television schedule with the World Series wrapping up a bit early, but even the show's lowest ratings ever isn't fazing one of its creators. That's because he's J.J. Abrams. "The mood on set and in the writers' room is as good as the ratings are bad, which is to say, wonderful," Abrams told Entertainment Weekly's Michael Ausiello. "Luckily, Fox has been insanely supportive, for which we are deeply grateful." "Fringe" has averaged a 3.8 rating/6 share in Fast National overnight ratings from The Nielsen Co., finishing well behind its freshman season. It has been clobbered, as expected, by some of the strongest programming offered by other networks: "CSI" on CBS and "Grey's Anatomy" on ABC. "Given that we're on one ... »

DVR Numbers Give 'Dollhouse,' 'Fringe' Big Boosts

11 hours ago | AirlockAlpha.com | See recent Airlock Alpha news »

It's almost becoming a broken record. But if there is ever any better proof that a network is airing a program in a bad timeslot, it should be the number of people who choose to DVR a show and watch it later. Maybe that will get Fox's attention, especially when it comes to "Dollhouse" and "Fringe." Both shows have suffered significantly in their timeslots, "Dollhouse" banished once again to Fridays while "Fringe" is made the network's sacrificial lamb to shows like "CSI" on CBS and "Grey's Anatomy" on ABC. Live numbers might be in the tank, but those who choose to record the show and watch it later in the week are actually extraordinary. "Dollhouse," for example, gets a 55.6 percent audience boost when live plus-seven numbers are added in, according to a report from Media Life Magazine. ... »

Revealed: Possible Daughter of McSteamy on 'Grey's Anatomy'

11 hours ago | Aceshowbiz | See recent Aceshowbiz news »

The first promotional photo released for the tenth episode of "Grey's Anatomy" this season has revealed the possible daughter of Mark 'McSteamy' Sloan. Leven Rambin is guest starring in the episode "Holidaze" which synopsis specifies that Mark and Lexie "must cope with the shocking arrival of a woman from his past."

E! Online came out with the report of Rambin's character being the long-lost daughter of Mark, but this story is not yet confirmed. The fact is, Rambin will be featured heavily on the November 19 episode, appearing in both "Grey's" and its spin-off "Private Practice".

According to EW, there will be a crossover between the two shows with Addison coming to Seattle to help the surgery of Rambin's character. As complications arise with the patient, Mark and Rambin's character will go to Los Angeles to seek additional help from Addison.

The "Grey's Anatomy" episode will also follow Miranda as she »

Melissa George Cast on Lie to Me

17 hours ago | TVfanatic | See recent TVfanatic news »

From Meredith's crazy friend on Grey's Anatomy to an semi-nuts acquaintance of Cal Lightman on Lie to Me.

Melissa George has nabbed a recurring role on the Fox drama. She'll play a character Entertainment Weekly describes as an "Anna Nicole Smith-type." That can't be a good sign for her.

The actress' will take on the role of Clara Martin, the sassy wife of an older, late billionaire.

After being found innocent in a high-profile murder case, she assumes control of her husband’s empire. Cal sees his fearless, manipulative, scheming side in her.

George will first appear in the season's 11th episode. The Australian beauty has also enjoyed extended stays on In Treatment and Alias. »

Leven Rambin, aka home wrecker Riley from Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, is coming to Grey's Anatomy Nov. 19, and her home-wrecking streak might not be done yet... Exclusive: 'Grey's' star jumps to 'Lie to Me'

21 hours ago | EW - Ausiello Files | See recent EW.com - The Ausiello Files news »

Mer's self-injuring Grey's Anatomy Bff has hopped the crazy train over to Lie to Me. Melissa George is joining the Fox drama as an Anna Nicole Smith-type who will go toe-to-toe with Tim Roth, sources confirm to me exclusively. Her character, Clara Martin, is the sassy wife of an older billionaire who has been murdered. After being exonerated in a high-profile murder trial, she assumes control of her husband's empire. Lightman sees himself in her — naughty, fearless, strategic, and always game for the next adventure. In other words, she's kinda nuts. George will recur beginning with this season's 11th episode. »

'Grey's Anatomy' scoop: Crisis looms for Mark and Lexie

22 hours ago | EW - Ausiello Files | See recent EW.com - The Ausiello Files news »

Warning: If you're a fan of Grey's Anatomy lovebirds Mark and Lexie, grab a defibrillator before reading. The early 2010 Grey's/Private Practice crossover I told you about last week will find the doctor formerly known as McSteamy spending some quality time with his currently single ex, Addison. "They've both really grown up since they were together, and most of the animosity that they had is gone," says Shonda Rhimes, executive producer of both shows. "Now they're friends, but they may end up falling back into their old patterns while they're together." But wait, there's more (so keep those paddles handy). As you know, »

Lee Norris Gets Mouthy for One Tree Hill

8 November 2009 7:37 PM, PST | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

Sometimes an actor can be just so right for a part based on where they came from. Lee Norris grew up in the basketball-friendly state of North Carolina and attended the Acc powerhouse school Wake Forest, known for a rich legacy of college basketball greatness. Norris plays Marvin "Mouth" McFadden, who becomes a basketball commentator on the hit CW series One Tree Hill, which is currently airing its seventh season on Monday nights at 8 Pm Et on the CW Network. I recently had the chance to speak with Norris over the phone about his role in this long-running series, and here's what he had to say.

I was curious how you first heard about this character Mouth and what was your first reaction about this character?

Lee Norris: I was actually a student in college when I got the call to audition for Mouth. I was really interested in »

Grey's Anatomy: Jesse Williams Talks About the Cristina Kiss

8 November 2009 2:25 PM, PST | buddytv.com | See recent BuddyTV news »

Sure they were both inebriated, but that kiss should still account for something right? If you missed last weeks' episode of Grey's Anatomy, Yang (Sandra Oh) and Mercy Wester Jackson (Jesse Williams) kissed on the sidelines of Callie's (Sara Ramirez) not-so-booming surprise party to girlfriend Arizona (Jessica Capshaw).

The context: Yang is pissed at Owen (Kevin McKidd) for not going ballistic on her for an unauthorized procedure she did earlier. Jackson, meanwhile, found the whole renegade surgeon thing hot. Could it be the start of something bigger? Williams tells TV Guide that yes, that's very possible.

Grey's Anatomy: Trouble in Paradise for Mark and Lexie?

8 November 2009 2:21 PM, PST | buddytv.com | See recent BuddyTV news »

We just reported that some discord might be in the offing for Grey's Anatomy lezzie couple Callie (Sara Ramirez) and Arizona (Jessica Capshaw). On the upcoming episode of the ABC medical dramedy, it's Cristina (Sandra Oh) and Owen's (Kevin McKidd) turn to reassess their relationship with 24's Kim Raver visiting the hospital as Iraqi War vet Teddy Altman (not to mention that kiss last episode).

Well, it isn't Grey's Anatomy when the couples' love stories are smooth sailing, and from the looks of things, Sloan (Eric Dane) and Lexie (Chyler Leigh) are next in line to get their perfect world disrupted.
