A confession: I'm obsessed with a film critic. His name is Fiore Mastracci, and he's the worst film critic in the world. You know how some people are so bad they're good? Not Fiore. He's so bad, he's flipped all the way around, bypassed good, gone into bad again, come out the other end and dipped into genius.
He used to be my little secret. But no longer. His latest brilliant (ie awful) review – about Cormac McCarthy adaptation The Road – has hit the Twitterverse. He calls it "excrement on celluloid". He lambasts child actor Kodi Smit-McPhee for having a double-barrelled surname ("Why? Because we were going to be confused by all the other Kodi McPhees in Tinsel Town?

Production Weekly has Tweeted the news that, with just two weeks before cameras are set to roll, it'll be Guy Pearce stepping aboard the production of The Hungry Rabbit Jumps, the new thriller from Roger Donaldson.Details of the story are still sketchy, but everyone seems agreed that Nic Cage plays an ordinary guy who turns to a vigilante group to set things right when his wife (January Jones) is assaulted.Our first guess is that Pearce would be playing the leader of the vigilante group - he can certainly pull off dangerous as well as he can do charismatic. Back in October, we told you that Tommy Lee Jones was coming on board a film called The Lincoln Lawyer. Plan was for him to direct from John Romano's script, and also co-star alongside Matthew McConaughey. While the film is still going, sadly Jones is no longer part of the project. He'll find a different directing gig for his feature follow-up to The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada.
Variety reports on his split. The reason is those oft-cited 'creative differences', which in this case seems to mean that Jones wasn't happy with the script. The film will find another director and co-star, and hopes to begin production next spring. The film will adapt Michael Connelly's novel about a small-time Los Angeles lawyer who operates out of his Lincoln and lands the case of a lifetime defending a playboy accused of murder. Collider declared that Tommy Lee Jones is in talks to both direct and act in The Lincoln Lawyer, a film that already has McConaughey attached as the lead. I’m already seeing some nightmarish love-child of No Country for Old Men and Failure to Launch.
The Lincoln Lawyer is based on the eponymous 2005 bestselling novel by Michael Connelly and follows an attorney who runs his business out of his car (McConaughey) and through what’s sure to be a funny little twist of fate, ends up representing a well-known Hollywood playboy in a murder case that, for our lawyer, is the chance of a lifetime. I don't think there's enough Tommy Lee Jones on cinema screens, and I'm not alone in hoping he'd jump right back behind the camera again after his 2005 debut The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada. But it looks like he's going back behind the camera, as Variety reports that he's in talks to direct and costar in The Lincoln Lawyer.
At first glance, The Lincoln Lawyer might be a startling choice for Jones' next directing foray because it would appear to be Matthew McConaughey's attempt at a serious makeover. McConaughey is set to play Mickey Haller, a aimless lawyer who works out of the back of his Lincoln, and defends low rent criminals. One shiny day, he ends up with a case defending a Beverly Hills playboy against a murder charge, but it isn't all easy peasy and high paychecks. It's a Michael Connelly book, after all. Look elsewhere for bongo drums and shirtlessness.

By no means an unknown Hollywood name himself, Tommy Lee Jones has worked with some of the biggest names in show-biz, co-starring with such talents as Harrison Ford, Will Smith, and Jim Carrey.
Now, Jones is in talks to share the screen with current Hollywood A-lister Matthew McConaughey in Lakeshore Entertainment’s The Lincoln Lawyer.
The Lincoln Lawyer, based on the 2005 best-selling novel of the same title, is the story of lawyer Mickey Haller, whose office is located in the back of his Lincoln. The cases he represents are generally pretty mundane, until he takes on the case of an L.A. playboy facing murder accusations.
McConaughey has already signed on to play the part of Mickey Haller, but it is as of yet undetermined what role Jones will be taking if he is cast in the film. What is certain, though, is that Jones’s interest in being involved

Following his critically acclaimed feature-directorial debut, "The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada," Tommy Lee Jones is ready for his next big gig behind the camera. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Oscar-winning actor will direct and co-star in an adaptation of Michael Connelly's best-selling crime novel "The Lincoln Lawyer."
Despite the the title, this is not yet another project involving our 16th President (though it could be a fitting but misleading alternate title for Robert Redford's "The Conspirator"). Instead it's about a criminal defense lawyer (Matthew McConaughey) who works out of his car -- a Lincoln Town Car. Used to representing small time criminals, his career takes a turn when he begins handling the case of a wealthy realtor accused of attempted murder.

Earlier this year The Lincoln Lawyer was announced as a starring vehicle for Matthew McConaughey. Based on the novel by Michael Connelly and scripted by John Romano, The Lincoln Lawyer would feature the actor as a small-time Los Angeles lawyer who operates out of his Lincoln and lands the case of a lifetime defending a playboy accused of murder. Now we know that Tommy Lee Jones will also appear in the film. And, better yet, Jones will also direct.
It's been four years since the last Jones directorial effort, The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada. That film was wonderful, and so I'm excited to see what Jones does when he's in the director's chair once more. Will his skills be as evident when applied to a story that has less personal resonance? The Lincoln Lawyer may have found its director. At the Ghosts of Girlfriends Past premiere, Matthew McConaughey said he was ready to start work on the film - the hold-up was finding the right director. The Hollywood Reporter says Tommy Lee Jones may be tackling that job, as well as co-starring with McConaughey in the big screen adaptation of Michael Connelly's bestselling book. Jones has one director credit to date, having helmed the 2005 independent film The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada.
Connelly's book follows Mickey Haller, a criminal defense attorney who operates out of the backseat of his Lincoln Town Car. Haller has spent all of his professional life defending low-level criminals, but that changes when he lands the job of defending a Beverly Hills playboy arrested for murder.
McConaughey is locked in to play Haller.

Tommy Lee Jones has had a pretty fruitful acting career, but more recently he has taken a turn towards work behind the camera. In 2005 he made his feature directorial debut with the western crime-drama The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada. While I haven't gotten the chance to see it yet, a 7.6 IMDb rating and an 84% on Rotten Tomatoes makes it look like it was a solid debut in the director's chair. Now THR reports that Jones has just set up his next feature directing project with The Lincoln Lawyer, a legal thriller announced back in March which will also have Tommy Lee Jones co-starring with Matthew McConaughey.

Tommy Lee Jones is in talks to co-star and direct the adaptation of Michael Connelly’s novel “The Lincoln Lawyer,” about a Los Angeles lawyer who sets up shop in the back of his Lincoln. McConaughey will play Mickey Haller the hotshot lawyer, and though Jones’s role is unknown as of now, he looks to be playing the Beverly Hills playboy Haller must defend for murder. According to the Risky Biz Blog, the project is set up at Lakeshore Entertainment and the screenplay was penned by John Roman of “Intolerable Cruelty” and “Nights in Rodanthe” fame. This feature is Jones’s second stab at directing for film after “The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada” in 2005, which was a critical–if not financial–success for Sony Pictures Classics.
