Trivia:
The film was acted out as an improvisation and was shot entirely in chronological order. The actors were not even given call-sheets in order to increase the film's sense of unknowing and the improvisational style. Director of photography, Dewald Aukema explains that "The film is very versatile, as there is no strict script, it is interesting that anything could happen in a particular take, and it could be used effectively in production, it's really up to the actors how they develop the scene and their characters." moreQuotes:
[first lines]Antoni: Hello, my name is Antoni Clarke, and I am a bride's best friend.
[pause; wearily]
Antoni: I'm not gay.

The movie is about 3 couples who are battling it out for the most original wedding of the year. Filmed in a documentary style this movie is absolutely hilarious and a credit to British film-making. The 3 couples who are the focus of the film couldn't be more different with a couple living at home with her Mum, a couple who are very competitive tennis players and a couple who are naturalists (aka nudists!).
The film, aside from being hilarious, the whole cinema was in fits throughout most of it, really touched on some serious topics connected with relationships and especially marriage...the interfering 'good intentioned' family, jealousy, public perceptions of the norm...most of all the film reinforced what is important.
I was in two-minds about this film, I hadn't been convinced by the trailers I had seen and the reviews I had read hadn't convinced me. In all honesty if the tickets for tonight hadn't been free I wouldn't have gone. However, I was pleasantly surprised. The story, despite it's documentary style, was believable, the acting credible and the fluency of the stories spot on! If you enjoy Brit comedy especially along the lines of The Office, Spaced and Shaun of the Dead then this is a definite film for you!
