Terminator Salvation Quick Thoughts: Terminator Salvation as a film is no better on Blu-ray than it was in theaters when I gave it a "D" review, but I will say watching it in the comfort of my own home is far less annoying than it was when I had to endure it's stupidity at the cinema. Of course, at that time it was a major letdown. Now, I know exactly what to expect, a film made up of action set pieces completely devoid of anything resembling an intelligent storyline. As long as you are cool with that this film delivers.
On Blu-ray the action is just as impressive as it was in theaters outside of a few complaints I won't even worry about getting into here as you can read my theatrical review for those details. The visuals of the film are equally impressive and I still think Dp Shane Hurlbut »

A brand new 10 minute behind the scenes clip of James Cameron’s “Avatar“, called “Making a Scene: Avatar“, has hit the web and features some of the cast talking about the highly anticipated film.
Synopsis: In a distant future, humanity discovers the planet ‘Alpha Centauri B-4′, and for those scientists and astronauts who’ve traversed the gulf between neighboring suns and arrived on its alien soil know it as ‘Pandora’. A world filled with an incredible diversity of beautiful and deadly ammonia-breathing lifeforms. Its also a world that harbors treasures and resources almost beyond price. But just as the original Pandora’s Box wrought devastation on those who would use it for their own gain, so too this world may destroy not just the Pandorans home, but ours as well.

I’m finding that there are some movies that I like more upon a second viewing. It could be that once expectations are set aside (either upheld or smashed upon the first viewing) that it’s easier to accept a movie a bit more… forgivingly. While I certainly still don’t love Terminator Salvation (click link for my initial review), I’ll have to admit I found myself enjoying it more the second time around.
Terminator Salvation is released on DVD and Blu-ray this week, and I’ll be giving you the specs and a review of the Blu-ray director’s cut version right here.
The film wasn’t the huge hit the studio was hoping for in the U.S., bringing in only $125Mm. However it did much better overseas, bringing it’s worldwide total to a respectable $371Mm. As far as reviews go, it earned a 32% positive rating at Rotten Tomatoes, »

The Golden Satellites have announced their 2009 nominations for what it's worth. And you might be screaming "not very much".
It's hard to know what to make of this Golden Globe splinter group. There is never much of a narrative thread in their nominations. You can't sense from year to year a type of film they like or whatnot. Which makes them feel a bit suspect. They also do very strange things which you're about to see if you read their nominations. They never get much attention and yet they keep plugging away. This year they were especially kind to 2012 (who knew?), Nine and The Stoning of Soraya M. But they were downright rude to the sci-fi drama Moon which received zero nominations despite their lack of aversion to sci-fi films. I mention this because the moon is a natural satellite and the Golden Satellites are artificial. Maybe they're jealous. What they're orbiting we know not. »

Now don't go commenting on these things below, keep your ideas for later on.
For now, let's take a look at what I watched this past week and hear what you watched in the comments below.

Visitors to this year's Carole Nash International Motorcycle and Scooter Show will come face to face with two life-sized T600 models from the latest Terminator adventure.
The bike show starts tomorrow at the NEC, near Birmingham, and is on until December 6.
The T600 robots feature in futuristic action movie Terminator Salvation, which is now out on DVD and Blu-ray. You can read my review of the Blu-ray here.
The Terminators are a perfect match for this year's bike show marketing design - The Man (pictured right), a mechanical human form made of motorcycle parts and components which features on the show's publicity material.
For more details on the motorcycle show, see the Motors section of tomorrow's Coventry Telegraph, go to www.motorcycleshow.co.uk or call the ticket hotline on 0844 581 2345.

Australian actor Sam Worthington will be hanging around the green screen for a while.
Worthington plans to star in two sequels for the upcoming huge-budget sci-fi extravaganza Avatar from director James Cameron.
Because the shoot for Avatar was so long and extensive, the actor doesn’t expect to finish the next two films in the series until he’s an old man.
“You work 18-hour days. I was on it for 14 months. Jim’s still editing,” says Worthington. “We’ll still be filming it up to the day it’s released – probably after the movie comes out, knowing Jim! That commitment is what makes him the man he is. It’s life or death. It’s war. That’s how he approaches movies. We’re signed for a trilogy. But I think I’ll be 94 by the time it finishes, to be honest. I know Jim’s got some ideas in his big head. »

It's hard to believe, but Judd Apatow, the mega-filmmaker who has changed the face of Hollywood comedy, has only directed three films. Having made his mark in television ("Freaks & Geeks," "Larry Sanders") and some screenwriting, Apatow finally exploded into the theatrical world on the back of 2005's "The 40 Year Old Virgin." "Knocked Up" would follow in 2007, and then in 2009, "Funny People," a decidedly more mature comedy that straddled serious dramatic elements. Now arriving on DVD and Blu-ray, will the pic -- which stars Adam Sandler as a dying comedian who mentors younger upstart Seth Rogen -- finally grab a wider fanbase than it found in cinemas?
"Funny People" features a strong audio and video transfer, and comes in both theatrical and unrated versions. Extras are plentiful as well, with the two-disc edition featuring filmmaker commentary, on-set diaries, gag reels, deleted and extended scenes, featurettes on subjects like stand-up, vintage prank »
