New Extended Trailer for ‘The Killer Inside Me’

Casey Affleck has been known to take some pretty intense roles as of late. His first being the role of Robert Ford in The Assassination of Jesse James and then his work on his brother’s project, Gone Baby Gone. It looks like Affleck is going to step it up once again as Sheriff Lou Ford in the ultra-violent The Killer Inside Me.
The film is based on the novel by Jim Thompson, who also wrote the novels films such as The Grifters and The Getaway were adapted from. The original 1976 film starred Stacey Keach, who took on the role that Affleck is now running with.
The extended trailer shows off some of the intense moments (hopefully not all) from the film, such as some raunchy aggressive sex with both Jessica Alba and Kate Hudson, as well as a violent murder of one of them. This may just be the »

I'm not always eager to post promo and sales trailers for movies when they find their way online because they're usually too long, rough around the edges, and quick to be pulled off the web anyway. They're not intended for the general public, and shouldn't really be judged as such. In this case, however, we've got our first look at what appears to be a very promising flick, and with all the talent involved I simply couldn't help posting about it. Michael Winterbottom's most recent film Genova didn't get a ton of attention at Tiff last year, but his previous two films, A Mighty Heart and The Road to Guantanamo both made my top 10 lists in their respective years. Got to hand it to Casey Affleck. The guy is one of those true actors that can tackle just about everything. After disturbing us in The Assassination of Jesse James, he is back again with another dark drama, The Killer Inside Me. But this time he gets to bang Jessica Alba and Kate Hudson. Lucky guy!

In 2007, Casey Affleck was a force to be reckoned with as he landed a one-two punch with “Gone Baby Gone” and “The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford,” the latter of which earned him an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor. Affleck makes his return next summer in Michael Winterbottom’s “The Killer Inside Me,” based off Jim Thompson’s novel. The story follows a bored, small-town cop who decides to liven up his life with a little sociopathy and murder followed by the fun of covering up his tracks.

On Tuesday we brought you the news that Helen Mirren had signed up to star alongside Bruce Willis and Morgan Freeman in Red, Robert Schwentke's big screen adaptation of the DC Comics book series. Now there are two more names coming out of the woodwork - John C. Reilly (Step Brothers) and Mary-Louise Parker (The Assassination Of Jesse James By The Coward Robert Ford) are apparently in talks to join the cast.
The film is about a retired CIA agent (Willis) who has to contend with younger, more high-tech assassins who show up to kill him because of the classified information he knows. According to Heat Vision, Reilly would play another retired CIA agent who is paranoid that everyone is out to kill him, while Parker would play a federal pension worker and Wilis' love interest.

To continue my review of my epic journey to watch all my films from A-z, this is the Third part.
For those that don’t know I am watching all 700+ Dvd/Bluray films from A-z which has so far taken me 2+ years to get to the end of G’s!
I thought I should retrospectively review each letter and give my top 5 films from each alpha block and maybe bring your attention to some films you may not have seen, films you’ve not seen in ages or films you should give another try.
Another letter and another bunch of classics I should own and a selection of ones I’m glad to say I don’t own.

A month or so ago it came to light that The Road's John Hillcoat was hoping to get an adaptation of Matt Bondurant's prohibition-set novel The Wettest Country in the World up and running. Zooey Deschanel Going to 'Bones' on December 10

Fox has determined which "Bones" episode the Deschanel sisters should appear together in. Through a press release, the network announced that Emily Deschanel and Zooey Deschanel will do a sister act on the December 10 episode called "The Goop on the Girl". It will be a special holiday-themed episode which is also guest starring Farrah Fawcett's widower Ryan O'Neal.
Zooey's role on the show would be a distant relative of Emily's Dr. Temperance Brennan named Margaret Whitesell. O'Neal, meanwhile, reprises his role as Max Keenan, Brennan's dad. When Keenan makes contact with Margaret, he invites her to spend Christmas with him and his daughter. Meanwhile, Brennan and Booth investigate the death of a man dressed as Santa Claus who was blown up after a botched bank robbery.

The second adaptation of noir writer Jim Thompson's pulp novel stars Casey Affleck, who plays a small town sherrif who turns into a sociopath, and Jessica Alba who plays a prostitute. Originally adapted in 1976, I don't think this is a remake but another adaptation, and from the stills, it looks quite stunning. The film is directed by Michael Winterbottom, and while I couldn't care less about Jessica Alba, I'm looking forward to seeing more of Affleck after The Assassination of Jesse James. No release date has been set, but it's tentatively scheduled for sometime in 2010.

In-Depth Interviews with Director Jane Campion and Paul Schneider for "Bright Star"

Not to sound cliche but it was truly a delight meeting Jane Campion, one of the three women directors to be ever nominated for a Best Director Oscar (the other two were Lina Wertmuller in 1976 for "Seven Beauties" and Sofia Coppola for 2003's "Lost in Translation").
Borrowing from the great romantic poet, John Keats, the subject of the director's "Bright Star," interviewing Campion was a thing of beauty and will definitely be a joy forever.
Campion was smart, provocative, brilliant. She hinted on quitting making movies right after 2003's "In the Cut." That would have been a tragedy.
So thank you to my friends at Palm Springs International Film Society for making these interviews happened. Actor Paul Schneider, who perfected a Scottish accent to play Keats' confidante, Charles Armitage Brown, was also a pleasure to talk to.

Post-punk/death rocker turned mustachioed Southern Gothic philosopher Nick Cave and his fellow Bad Seed bandmate Warren Ellis* have become standout film composers in the past few years, beginning with their collaboration on The Proposition, a Western from the land Down Under directed by The Road's John Hillcoat and written by Nick Cave. They also created the soundscape for the sadly underseen and somewhat overlong The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford. Viggo Mortensen, Robert Duvall, Charlize Theron, Kodi Smit-McPhee and Garret Dillahunt star in the film. John Hillcoat directs an adapted screenplay from Joe Penhall. The film will feature a new and original score from Nick Cave and Warren Ellis, who most recently provided the wonderful score for “The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford.”
“The Road” is due to hit screens on October 16th, 2009 in The United States.

One Night Only is the kind of micro-budget indie you might not normally pay attention to, except that it features SNL's Kristen Wiig amongst its cast. It's produced by Last Pictures, a New York-based company that usually specializes in short films, and is described as "a romantic drama about two couples shifting sexual dynamics over one night in a folk music bar." I was recently prompted to take a look back at my reviews of 2009, average out the grades and see how things shaped up. However, once I got done with that I began wondering how this year stacked up to earlier years and my first days reviewing films back in 2003. Of course, I dreaded the prospect. For those of you that are either new to the site or don't read all of my posts, you may not know how I feel about my early movie reviews back when I started RopeofSilicon.com. Perhaps you think I am awful right now, and if that's the case, I cringe at the thought of what you would think of my writing back then. Jeremy Renner 'Fighting' To Join George Miller's Return To 'Mad Max'

This is purely a premature news bite. In a recent interview with his hometown newspaper, The Modesto Bee, "The Hurt Locker" star Jeremy Renner mentioned that he’s “fighting” to get a role in a new “Mad Max” movie. Renner says that he’s screen testing and taking a meeting with director George Miller for the gig, though he shares no specifics on what character he’s up for.
Given his rising status in Hollywood, it’s likely that Renner is looking to nab the lead in the fourth installment of the “Max” franchise, which reportedly will not feature original star Mel Gibson. Still, it’s not even completely known what the next installment of the series will be like. Back in May, we shared the news that Miller is prepping for the sequel, with location scouting and a tentative start planned for the end of the year.
