Moviegoers came back for a second helping of Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, but the new items on the menu, Surrogates and Fame, didn't fly. That led to a weekend that was off seven percent from the same timeframe last year when Eagle Eye landed. Standing as the only broadly appealing movie among recent releases, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs dissipated by a mere 19 percent, generating an estimated $24.6 million and lifting its total to a solid $60 million in ten days. Its drop was less than such comparable titles as Open Season, Meet the Robinsons and Chicken Little, though it may have a steeper decline in its third weekend, when the Toy Story double feature will claim much of its 3D attention. Jayde Nicole Says Joe Francis "Attacked From Behind," Wants Cops to Take the Lead

Joe Francis claims he was sucker punched. But Jayde Nicole insists it's Francis who prefers to take the cheap shots.
"Jayde Nicole was the victim of a violent assault when she was attacked from behind, thrown down to the ground by her hair and beaten in the face and body in front of multiple witnesses by a person identified as Joe Francis," her rep, Jerry Shandrew, said in a statement Monday.
Shandrew says that the Playboy Playmate will not be talking too much while authorities investigate the rumble that occurred early Friday between Francis, Nicole and her boyfriend, Brody Jenner, outside a Hollywood club. Instead, they'd rather the police be the ones making all the noise.

Kate Whoriskey To Take The Lead At Seattle's Intiman Theatre

Variety reports that Kate Whoriskey will succeed Bartlett Sher as artistic director of Seattle's Intiman Theater beginning in 2011. Whoriskey, director of the recent Pulitzer-winner "Ruined," will share leadership of the theater with Sher for the 2009-10 season before taking the reins on her own the following season. Whoriskey has previously been an associate artist at the Intiman during the 2002-03 season. Her list of directing credits at the theater include "The Chairs," "The Lady from the Sea" and "Blue/Orange."
