Just added! A Fright exclusive interview with Mick Garris! Mick Garris got his start much like we did here at Icons, by interviewing filmmakers for magazines & his Z channel show Fantasy Film Festival. (His guests included John Landis, John Carpenter, David Cronenberg, John Boorman) He went on to write for Steven Spielberg on Amazing Stories, then directed Critters 2: The Main Course, the prequel/sequel Psycho IV: The Beginning starring Anthony Perkins, and later went on to work with Stephen King more then any other filmmaker on such films as Sleepwalkers, The Stand, The Shining, Riding The Bullet & Desperation. (His next King adaptation will be Bag Of Bones!) He also created Showtime's hit series Masters Of Horror, as well as it's NBC follow-up Fear Itself! It helps that he's probably the nicest guy in the movie business, which is why he agreed to speak to us about all of the above!

HOLLAND'S OPUS</strong></a>"! In this issue, Tim chats extensively with <em><strong>Tom Holland</strong></em>, the writer/director of FRIGHT NIGHT, CHILD'S PLAY, THINNER, THE LANGOLIERS, 5 OR DIE, writer on PSYCHO 2, THE BEAST WITHIN, CLOAK & DAGGER & more! The <a href="http://www.iconsoffright.com/SHOCK_02.htm">article</a> covers all grounds! Yup. Freddy truly scared me. Pinhead freaked me out. Jason and the Living Dead's Return were bloody good fun. But with finger to the trigger forced to choose my favorite 80's horror show, without hesitation my answer would be FRIGHT NIGHT. Could anything be cooler? Well, maybe Charley Brewster, but I wouldn't want to wrestle Evil Ed over that one. Or maybe I would...<br /><br />In an era where

According to a report on Shock, director Tobe Hooper (The Texas Chain Saw Massacre. Poltergeist) is still set to helm the adaptation of Stephen King's book From A Buick 8. (Once attached to George A. Romero, who instead begins production on Diary Of The Dead 2 this September.) Actor Johnathon Schaech (Prom Night) and Richard Chizmar (writer on Stuart Gordon's Fear Itself episode "Eater") have written the script, which according to the Shock article is being submitted next week. In the story, a mysterious Buick held in a state trooper barracks has become the fixation of a deceased police officer's son. Mick Garris (The Stand, Masters Of Horror) is producing. More when we hear it!

Blu-ray.com reports that in an early announcement to retailers, Anchor Bay Home Entertainment has revealed that they will bundle their Masters Of Horror series into the 'Blu-ray Masters of Horror Bundle' on September 9th. Additionally, they will release the Amazon-exclusive 'Blu-ray Zombie Bundle' (which will feature Dawn Of The Dead, Day Of The Dead, and Evil Dead II: Dead By Dawn) on the same day. These will be direct bundles with no additional features, so for those of you who already own these titles, there is no benefit in picking up the bundle. But if you have been holding out on these great titles, now is the time to pick them up.

Ugh, while I fanatically report any little tidbit I can find on one of my favorite films (series) of all time, I hate to tell you that Angus Scrimm got in touch with Fangoria and says Nothing Is In The Works! Argh! Here's his exact words: “There is nothing in the works, We did have a roundtable reading a year and a half ago of a lengthy script for Phantasm V, which was written by Steve Romano, the co-writer on Don’s excellent Masters Of Horror episode Incident On And Off A Mountain Road. The problem with that one was that it attempted to explain everything, and of course, nothing is really explicable with Phantasm." That's terrible news as they've been teasing about it for quite a while new, and even the ice cream man himself, Reggie Bannister, had written a post apocalyptic script a few years ago which sounded right incredible.

Iof First Look: Fear Itself - "Skin And Bones"
Indie genre favorite Larry Fessenden (The Last Winter, Wendigo) tackles this week's episode of Fear Itself entitled, "Skin and Bones" concerning a subject that director is quite familiar with.
A rancher, played by Doug Jones (Hellboy, Pan's Labyrinth) goes missing in the mountains for ten days
and miraculously returns home... rather different. Now, his somewhat dysfunctional family must face the
ravenous, supernatural force residing inside him.
What makes this episode really work is the incredible Doug Jones. If fellow Hellboy star Ron Perlman is this
generation's Boris Karloff, then Jones is most definitely our Lon Chaney. Doug absolutely owns this
role, his performance shining through the very subtle prosthetics and makeup. It's clear that this man is
more than just a guy with foam latex stuck to his face. He's a very rare kind of actor who understands makeup as a tool,

Not much info on this yet, but Shock Till You Drop.com is reporting exclusively that 30 Days Of Night creator Steve Niles may be writing a script for legendary director John Carpenter! According to Shock's post, Niles "is adapting a known Scott Hampton-penned property for the screen. John Carpenter is eyeing to direct it. Hampton is currently the artist on Simon Dark, a comic series penned by Niles." John Carpenter is of course best known for his genre contributions such as Halloween, The Thing, The Fog, Escape From New York and 2 episodes of Showtime's Masters Of Horror.

One of the most impressionable things about the horror genre (or even film in general) is this little thing known as the “theatrical trailer”. I love going to the movies early, getting comfortable in my seat, munching on my popcorn and candy while eagerly awaiting that beautiful giant green screen which moments before the feature presentation will start flashing me all of the latest and greatest movies to start getting excited for! Like most of you devoted readers out there, I grew up in a great period for horror. A period that saw just about every single horror movie converted into a franchise, and with our beloved bogeymen returning year after year in yet another sequel. (Hey, I loved it!) The purpose of the “theatrical trailer” (or “teaser” in some of these cases) was to give you a taste of what was to come, and make you terribly excited for

Now we’re talkin’. We knew going in that reconfiguring the Masters Of Horror series for NBC was going to mean watering things down a little bit for a general audience, but give director Stuart Gordon (Re-Animator) credit for pushing the envelope with “The Eater.” If there’s ever been a gorier, nastier hour of network television, then I certainly can’t recall it. To be honest, I’d been fairly shocked by the amount of violence and gore that had been smuggled into the first few episodes, but nothing like this. If “The Eater” had been screened for the MPAA, I have no doubt that it would have gotten an “R” rating, but between the general American permissiveness towards violence, the late-night time slot, and perhaps the modest viewership, too, Gordon was able to sneak this one by the gatekeepers. For my money, this was easily the strongest episode to.

To me, TV and movie anthologies are like Lucy holding the football in an old Peanuts cartoon: I know she’s going to pull the ball away and put me on my ass, but I can’t resist them anyway. They’re never wholly satisfying, but there’s always the hope that the next episode or short film will be a gem, and every once in a while, you’re rewarded for slogging through the endless misfires: Think of Joe Dante’s “Homecoming” on Masters Of Horror, Martin Scorsese’s segment in New York Stories, Federico Fellini’s entry in Spirits Of The Dead, or George Miller’s “Nightmare At 20,000 Feet” from Twilight Zone: The Movie. Getting to the good stuff takes patience and perseverance, and oftentimes anthologies never pay off at all or not nearly enough to justify themselves. And yet, when NBC announced a 13-episode summer horror anthology called Fear Itself,

The trailer to Transsiberian has debuted over on Yahoo's site. While not exactly in the "horror" genre, there's a number of reasons I'm reporting on it. Firstly, it's the latest from director Brad Anderson, the filmmaker behind Session 9, The MacHinist (Great, great movie), the Masters Of Horror episode Sounds Like and an upcoming episode of Fear Itself. So, since he's one of the few director's out there doing radically different things on each project, I'll see anything he does.
Secondly, the stellar cast. Woody Harrelson (National Born Killers) , Emily Mortimer, Kate Mara, Eduardo Noriega (who's in 2 of my favorite foreign films Thesis and Open Your Eyes) and Ben Kingsley.
Lastly, the movie looks really good! See for yourself and check out the trailer Here!
