Technically, no. Eli Roth claims he got the idea from various websites offering a similar "experience" to the one in Hostel and based the screenplay on what he had seen. Whether the sites where legitimate or not has not been confirmed, but it most likely that they were fake themselves.

When Natalya first brings Paxton to the torture factory, Paxton looks into a room and sees the Dutch Businessman dissecting Josh's corpse. Both Paxton and the Dutch Businessman make eye contact, and this is why Paxton kills him at the end.

Except for the ending, the Director's cut is identical to the extended version. While the extended version shows the brutal murder of the businessman, the ending of the Director's cut is more mean.
