Katsuya Matsumura's 1995 horror movie "Concrete-Encased High School
Girl Murder Case" is based on a true crime case of Japanese schoolgirl
Junko Furuta. In November of 1988 four young men abducted and held
Furuta for several weeks in the house of one of the captors. The girl
was violently raped and subjected to torture and sexual degradation for
example she was forced to masturbate. On 4th January 1989 four sadists
beat her with an iron barbell, poured lighter fluid on her
legs, arms, face and stomach and immolated her.She died later that day of
shock and her mutilated corpse was hidden in an oil-drum filled with
cement.Katsuya Matsumura of "All Night Long" series fame is possibly
the most misanthropic Japanese film-maker."Concrete-Encased High School
Girl Murder Case" is an incredibly nihilistic and disturbing film
loaded with scenes of sexual violence and abuse. This is an ugly and
honest piece of Japanese exploitation that tells about man's barbarity
and willing to torture, dominate and exploit the weaker.I can't wait to
see Matsumura's newest horror film "Ki-re-i?".Watch this one at your
own risk!
Schoolgirl Encased in Cement is one of many over-hyped Japanese
"extreme" videos I have seen in my life. I prefer stuff like Eat the
Schoolgirl or the All Night Long flicks personally, but they actually
have some substance to them and Konkurito doesn't.
If sleazy rape is your thing, prepare to be disappointed because
although there's a large amount of it, there's absolutely no quality to
the artistry of it. The guy that plays the lead rapist has enough of an
insane on screen attitude to make some scenes a little more bearable,
but that's about it. There's a little hard slapping that looks like it
could have been painful for the actress involved and also a hot lamp
stuck in the captive girl's privates which is unfortunately too bright
to see and also pixelated (plus, it's done over panties). When the
rapists are all over and done with their captive they put her in a 55
gallon drum and pour concrete on her, leaving only a tuft of hair when
it's dried...more strong imagery like that would have been helpful, as
would more competent direction and a more compelling story for a movie
(supposedly this one is based on a true story).
Avoid this if you want anything other than a mildly rapey diversion,
it's just not that good. The constant rape scenes are neither hot nor
brutal enough to be effective--6/10.

I think I've grown jaded to all these J-shock films over the years. I
think if I'd have seen SCHOOLGIRL IN CEMENT a few years ago I may have
rated it a bit higher - as it is, I found it relatively dull -
especially coming from Katsuya Matsumura, Director of the far superior
ALL NIGHT LONG series.
SCHOOLGIRL IN CEMENT is based on a true-crime story in Japan where
three boys abduct, rape, torture, and eventually murder a schoolgirl.
Unfortunately, the film version of this case is pretty much just a
cheap Japanese exploitation film in the vein of the type of material
that Daisuke (MUZAN E) Yamanouchi and Tamakichi (PSYCHO: THE SNUFF
REELS) Anaru put out - only minus the gore. Personally, I felt the film
failed on the "shock" level, as all the sex is (expectedly) pixellated,
and the "torture" scenes look pretty unconvincing. An "interesting" use
of a lamp was the highlight of the film for me, though this was shown
non-graphically as well. I would say that those that consider
themselves shock-film completists should give this a look just to say
you did - but I found it neither all that shocking nor interesting. Not
the worst thing out there, but nothing special either. There is a 2004
film titled KONKURITO about the same case that I'd be interested to
check out to see if this story could be told with more depth..4/10

Katsuya Matsumura's Concrete-Encased High School Girl Murder Case is
based on a series of events that took place in November of 1988 where
schoolgirl Junko Furuta was abducted by 3 boys and held captive in one
of their houses for 44 days. During this period she was raped
repeatedly, beaten, set on fire, made to drink her own urine, had
fireworks inserted into her ass and lit, and plenty of other..vile
things.
The film opens with 2 of our ''leading men'' viciously raping a
squawking girl while the other beats & kicks her boyfriend. It then
cuts to individual scenes of each boy at his house ''interacting''
(read: punching & kicking) with his parents to show us how well
adjusted they all are. Next we follow the fella's as they go cruising
lookin' for another piece of @ss to rape, they find one and we are then
privy to another drawn out rape scene. After a few minutes of filler
(scenes of the boys at work, family life, etc), cut to the next night
where we see the lads are on the prowl for yet another young lady to
violate, they spy a cute schoolgirl riding her bike, so one rides up on
his scooter, knocks her off her bike and keeps going, when he's gone
the other appears and helps her up, and feigning helpfulness he
proceeds to walk with her a while. Then he suddenly pushes her into and
alley and.. can you guess what's coming? yep, he rapes her. (While the
other lad watches and jerks off.) After the raping is done the 2 boys
take her to their other friends house (where he lives with his parents)
and let him have a bit of a rape too.
The rest of the films runtime is filled with lotsa long, drawn-out
rapes and other debaucherous acts inflicted upon the captured
schoolgirl - ie: setting her hair on fire, using her as a human
punching bag, penetrating her with a lamp - which take place in the
friend's house. The boy's parents know what's happening to the girl
upstairs but are too scared of their son to do anything about it. Once
his mother confronts him about it and he beats her senseless... so she
doesn't ask again. In one scene they take the girl to a phone box and
make her ring her parents and tell them she's run away but is staying
with a friend and is in no danger, so the police won't get suspicious.
After a particularly vicious beating, one boy drops an iron barbell on
the girl (he was p!ssed cos he'd just lost a game of mah-jongg) which
is instrumental in her death. The boys then take her corpse out to a
desolate place, put it in a 55 gallon drum, proceed to fill it with
concrete, then drive off laughing hysterically.
This is definitely a very grim and nihilistic film, although the
constant overlong rape scenes can get a little boring, and overall
there's very little ''substance'' or style to it - especially when
compared to the same directors excellent All Night Long series. Still,
it's worth a look for fans of ''extreme cinema'' or the All Night Long
films. 7/10
