After a few years of one-episode stints on shows like Passions, Criminal Minds, Ugly Betty and Dirty Sexy Money, French actor Gilles Marini truly broke out in last year's Sex and the City movie as Dante, the Naked Guy. For the past few weeks, he's been charming Brothers & Sisters fans -- and providing a much-needed vitality boost for the downtrodden Walker family -- as Luc Laurent, the sensitive-artist lover opposite Rachel Griffith's Sarah. When I talked to my favorite Dancing With the Stars runner-up on the phone last week about his upcoming role on nip/tuck (he's in two episodes beginning Nov. »

There’s no way I’m going to get this right. We never say precisely what we ought to when we part, the words are never perfect enough — not even for those of us who get paid to write them…or used to, anyway. I’m sorry to say that this is the last time we’ll walk the Beat together as I'm leaving EW. So I’ll tell you what, Coppers, let’s save the hugs for the end, stuff down the tears (I grant that they’re probably all mine), and take a stroll. I’m ready if you are. »

The New York Yankees' 27th World Series victory was watched by an average of 21.15 million viewers on Fox Wednesday night -- nearly as many as tuned in to the other three networks combined. During the 8:30 p.m. half hour, 23.63 million were watching, according to Nielsen Research. Despite the strong ratings, CBS drew decent numbers throughout the night, with Criminal Minds attracting 11.98 million viewers and CSI: NY, 11,64 million. The Jay Leno Show once again pulled in the fewest number of viewers of any network TV show Wednesday with just 4.73 million. Meanwhile, Fox News's Sean Hannity and MSNBC's Keith Olbermann each ditched their live telecasts Wednesday night and headed out to Yankee Stadium instead. Olbermann posted a (very blurry) picture of his cross-town rival, who was seated next to him during the game. The photo was captioned: "And lastly, a reminder that baseball does erase boundaries. CBS is having such a good year that they're increasing their episode orders for some of their most popular shows, according to EW. The orders total 13.5 more hours of programming. In terms of total airtime, that's the equivalent to ordering a whole new series.
This could mean a few less reruns for viewers... or that the network will be able to dump struggling shows even sooner.
CSI: Miami, How I Met Your Mother, NCIS, NCIS: Los Angeles, and Two and a Half Men have all been given orders for two additional episodes each.
The Big Bang Theory, Criminal Minds, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, CSI: NY, The Good Wife, and The Mentalist have each been given one more installment.
What about the rest? Are they in danger of being cancelled? Unless their ratings improve, many of them »

The New York Yankees' World Series clincher against the Philadelphia Phillies led Fox to a Wednesday night prime-time ratings win, according to early Nielsen estimates.
Game 6 coverage averaged 22.3 million viewers and pulled a 7.4 rating among 18-to-49-year-olds, the best numbers for any World Series game since 2004 when the Boston Red Sox ended their 86-year Series drought.
Among the non-sports offerings, CBS cleaned up, but all the network's shows were off their usual marks. Criminal Minds had the most viewers on the night (12 million), followed by CSI: NY (11. 6 million). The New Adventures of Old Christine (7 million viewers) and Gary Unmarried (6.7 million) both outperformed ABC's comedy counterparts ...

It lasted quite a long time for a show with a ridiculously-spelled name, but Numb3rs is nearing cancellation.
CBS has cut the episode order for this drama from 22 to 16 this season, a clear sign it won't be around in the fall of 2010.
That's bad news for fans of the show, but they can take comfort if they watch other hit CBS programs.
The network has increased the episode orders of How I Met Your Mother, NCIS, NCIS: Los Angeles, CSI: Miami, and Two and a Half Men from 22 to 24; it's also requested an additional episode of the following shows:
Criminal Minds CSI: NY The Big Bang Theory The Good Wife CSI The Mentalist »

A CBS spokesperson is confirming that the network has cut Numb3rs' episode order from 22 to 16. Translation: This is most likely the show's final season. I'm hearing Flashpoint will likely take over the Friday 10 p.m. timeslot in February, although there's been no official confirmation of that. In related news, CBS has upped the episode orders of How I Met Your Mother, NCIS, NCIS: La, CSI: Miami, and Two and a Half Men from 22 to 24, while requesting one additional episode of Criminal Minds, CSI: NY, The Big Bang Theory, The Good Wife, CSI, and The Mentalist, bringing their totals from »

I love Halloween episodes. They’re less cheesy than Valentine’s Day drivel, and generally funnier than Christmas and Thanksgiving episodes (plus, we don’t have to deal with guest-star relatives). This All Hallows Eve week we got two gems: The Mentalist and Castle. Since y’all always say I give The Mentalist and Criminal Minds short shrift, I’ll start with the faux-psychic (particularly since there was no meeting of the Minds this week). Anybody who’s been watching procedurals as long as we have (I know you’re out there, McMillan & Wife fans) has to appreciate the occasional »
