Fun Stuff

Trivia:
In the opening scene at Wrigley Field, Jon Favreau makes a reference to going to "Wiener Circle" to have hot dogs after the game. Wiener Circle is a hot dog stand famous for the staff yelling and cursing at you when you order. If you do not return the favor, they do not take your order. Generally, though, this only happens late at night on the weekends. more
Goofs:
Continuity: When Brooke is on the phone after her dinner-party, she picks up a martini glass full of fruit off of the counter, empties the fruit into the garbage and then places it in the sink. In subsequent views of the counter, the glass reappears and disappears. more
Quotes:

Gary: Come on, come on, come on.

Not A Comedy, 6 November 2006
3/10
Author: GreyDeath from Canada

This movie was actually billed as the funniest American Comedy of 2006. My girlfriend commented, three-quarters the way through, that it has about 20 minutes left to be funny, and that sums up this film quite well. There were humorous spots throughout the film, and I did laugh here and there, but I was expecting to be entertained by a funny film, just like the one we all saw in the trailers in the theater, but in the end, I had to ask, "Why did I sit through this film?" The acting was good, the story was OK, but it just wasn't a comedy. This film was a drama with a few funny points sprinkled throughout. I was constantly being reminded of the movie, "War of the Roses", which was also billed as a comedy, but instead was a dark drama with a lot of hate -- this film was along the same line: It shows the darker side of breaking up, the stupid comments made between couples, but... nothing really funny. How on earth do you get a comedy out of this film? Was there a shortage of comedies in 2006 so someone decided to just take a drama and drop it into the comedy category. Did you think no one would notice?

Was the above comment useful to you?
