Eek!

When Bones returns with a new episode on January 14, it will pay tribute a show largely responsible for the current trend of investigative dramas and serialized mysteries.
The installment's title might give it away: "The X in the File."
In case that clue somehow isn't enough, Dean Haglund guest stars as a diner owner on the episode. The actor (pictured below) is best known for his recurring role as Richard Langly on - you guessed it - The X Files.
During the hour, Booth and Brennan investigate possible alien remains around Roswell, New Mexico, a city where many people believe a UFO actually crashed in 1947.
Browse through our section of Bones quotes to get excited about the second half of season five and click on the photos below for an early look at scenes from "The X in the File."

Zap2it's favorite TV episodes of the decade series continues with my picks for what moved me in the 2000s.
Let me preface my list with a shout out to my colleague Rick, who kicked off the series with numerous excellent examples, ranging from "The Wire" to "Freaks and Geeks." I actually agreed with quite a number of his selections, but since this is a very personal endeavor, full of unfounded opinions, naturally I must include some episodes I feel he overlooked or at least didn't value as much as I.
Case in point: Joss Whedon. Really, Rick? How could an episode of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" not even make your main list and only warrant an "also" mention? Hmph.
My list:
"The Body" ("Buffy the Vampire Slayer")
Although "Hush" and its creepy Gentlemen freaked me out (and earned "Buffy" its only writing Emmy nom), it aired in December 1999, just

Question: Thanks for all the True Blood casting news! Do you have any other scoop on season 3? -Jkh
Ausiello: It's happening: Lafayette is getting a boyfriend! A True insider tells me that Alan Ball is quietly searching for a sexy Latino actor in his 30s to play a lust interest for everyone's favorite same-gender-lovin' blood dealer. (Over the summer, Ball confirmed that viewers would see a more "vulnerable" Lafayette in season 3.) Got casting tips?

Weekend Report: 'Avatar' Soars in Debut

The advent of Avatar obtained an estimated $73 million on approximately 7,000 screens at 3,452 sites over the weekend, claiming the highest-grossing opening ever for a movie that's neither a sequel, a remake nor a direct adaptation (though others had greater attendance). It was also the second highest-grossing December opening weekend after I Am Legend ($77.2 million). Overall weekend business surged 50 percent over the same weekend last year, but was down considerably from the comparable period in 2007, when I Am Legend and Alvin and the Chipmunks debuted.
With its advanced 3D presentation as a key selling point, Avatar handily set a new 3D opening weekend benchmark. Showing on 3,129 3D screens at 2,038 sites, the format accounted for an estimated $52 million of the gross. The previous highs were Up's $35.4 million and Monsters Vs. Aliens' $32.6 million. Included in the 3D total, were 179 IMAX runs, and, while IMAX won't report its cut until Monday, the company did

For me, it was a toss-up between The Office and Modern Family this year. The Dundler-Mifflin Christmas party was sort of like Halloween in that the outfits were so festive they could have counted as costumes. Stanley the mailman's Christmas sweater was the best, though the Dunphys' knit-based monstrosities on Modern Family, issued on high via webcam from half of Fred Willard's face, were a bit louder. Don't miss this holiday greetings e-card from 20th Century Fox, featuring two executives posing as a Modern Family married couple along with confessionals from the real Mf cast.

NCIS Round Table: "Faith"

As we discussed in our review of "Faith," Tuesday night's NCIS worked in the traditional murder-mystery angle with more personal/family stories than we usually see.
Below, our staff members break down the latest episode of TV's #1 show in further detail in an NCIS Round Table discussion. Here's what our panel had to say ...
1. What was your favorite NCIS quote from the episode?
The Barnacle: Ziva may speak nine languages (10 including the language of love), but she kills me every week with slip-ups like "redthroats" and "bah-humbog."
Dr. Shepherd: A tie between any of Tony's uncomfortable Secret Santa ramblings and Ducky's rambling, philosophical conversation with the corpse (and Palmer).
M.L. House: In an episode called "Faith," I have to go with Gibbs on the Reverend's comment about his son's god vs. his own: "They're one and the same."
2. Which story did you enjoy more, Gibbs' dad visiting or the murder mystery?

In 2009, the number of leading lesbian characters on primetime broadcast TV doubled — from one to two.
Out of the estimated 600 lead and supporting characters on network TV, seven of them of are lesbian or bisexual. And of those seven, five of them kissed women last year. And of those five, three of them made out during Sweeps.
Things looked bleak at the beginning of the year, but with the growing trend of lesbian brides getting gunned down or cheating on their wedding days, and the continued trend of bisexual characters only expressing their same-sex attraction during Sweeps, and the loss of Showtime's lesbian drama The L Word, we're ending the year on a downward spiral in terms of lesbian visibility.

The most surprising story in 2009 was the relationship between Callie Torres (played by Sara Ramirez) and Arizona Robbins (played by Jessica Capshaw) on Grey's Anatomy.

I think there are only three film festivals on the circuit where filmmakers and producers are really conscious on how a production start date my ultimately affect their film festival status. Fast National ratings for Thursday, Dec. 10, 2009
With ABC already in December rerun mode, CBS had little competition in sweeping all three hours of primetime Thursday. Fox's "Bones," meanwhile, got a bit of a bump from guest star Zooey Deschanel.
CBS averaged 15.9 million viewers and a 9.7 rating/16 share in households for the night, finishing way ahead of second-place Fox (8.6 million, 5.3/8). NBC came in third with 6.65 million viewers and a 4.0/7. ABC's rerun lineup (4.2 million, 3.0/5) came in fourth, and The CW (1.6 million, 1.1/2) trailed.
In the adults 18-49 demographic, CBS' 4.1 rating finished comfortably ahead of Fox and NBC, which tied for second at 2.7. ABC averaged 1.2 and The CW 0.7.

'Bones' recap: The gift of shirtless Booth

This year's Christmas episode lacked the emotional impact of Season 1's quarantine and the puckishness of Season 3's mistletoe kiss, but it did have something going for it: Shirtless Booth. (Watch the scene below.) His clothing became evidence after a man dressed as Santa robbed a bank with a bomb strapped to his chest, exited to meet Booth, and blew up. Watching Booth grow increasingly uncomfortable as Brennan slowly removed his tie, his shirt, his "cocky" belt buckle and his pants ("I’m just gonna start reciting some saints"), was worth sitting through the rest of the hour that while okay,

Almost Famous star Zooey Deschanel had to answer to her sister when she appeared on the crime show Bones. Deschanel, 29, said of working with Emily, 33 : 'I was hesitant. I just wanted to make sure that everything was right. But it ended up being really fun. I was glad I did it. We had a really good time and we definitely cracked up a lot. Unfortunately, sometimes it was on camera.' The sister act, she said, did not allow sibling rivalry to rear its ugly head. 'She was essentially my boss for a couple [of] days because she's one of the producers of the show. But we've never really competed because we're so different
