I love reading a plot description for an upcoming project that just stops me dead in my tracks. Here I am scanning casually through my RSS feeds when I come across this bombshell of a plot for War Birds at The Hollywood Reporter:
"Birds follows an Air Force veteran-turned-reckless airshow re-enactment pilot as he gets pulled into the underground culture of illegal, real-life aerial combat. Shooting is scheduled for the summer in Michigan using all real airplanes and aerial sequences, including authentic P-51 Mustangs, P-38 Lightnings, F4U Corsairs and a B-17 Flying Fortress as well as modern military helicopters and jets."
Yes, you read that correctly. War Birds, which will be directed by a one Michael Chait, is like Top Gun meets The Fast and the Furious. Or Fighting meets Stealth. Or Step up to the Streets 2 meets Hell's Angels. I don't know, there are too many variables there »

On Wednesday night's So You Think You Can Dance elimination show we were treated to an acrobatic mystery of a guest performance that defied gravity, expectations and genres. They were introduced as the Legion of Extraordinary Dancers and they lived up to the epic sounding nature of their name.
But who is the Legion of Extraordinary Dancers? Cat introduced them simply as "amazing special guests presented by John M. Chu director of Step Up 2 and Step Up 3D and choreographed by Harry Shum, Christopher Scott, and Galen Hooks." But there's more to the Legion of Extraordinary Dancers' story and even more to come. »

In today's Videos of the Week, we have a new interview that 'Step Up' gals Jenna Dewan-Tatum, Briana Evigan, and Sharni Vinson (who you see in the above photo taken by director Jon M. Chu with Channing Tatum in the background) did backstage with Chris Trondsen of Pacific Rim Video at the Dizzy Feet Foundation charity gala.
Nichelle Thrower of the dance crew We Are Heroes also joins in the conversation before the girls go onstage at the Koday Theater in Hollywood to perform this past Sunday. Check out the new video interview below...
When Jenna started her career as a professional dancer, she worked for various famous performers such as 'N Sync, Diddy (or whatever he's calling himself these days), Toni Braxton, Celine Dion, Pink, Missy Elliott, Ricky Martin, and Janet Jackson, just to name a few. Thanks to a tweeter with an eagle eye who »

Sadly, I wasn't able to make it to Los Angeles to attend tonight's Dizzy Feet benefit gala where Jenna Dewan-Tatum will be perform with Briana Evigan ('Step Up 2') and Sharni Vinson ('Step Up 3') and Channing Tatum will also present with Rob Hoffman ('Step Up 2') and Rick Malambri ('Step Up 3'), but I won't let that stop any of us from getting the very latest news from the event.
For those who don't know, Dizzy Feet Foundation was founded in 2009 by producer Nigel Lythgoe, director Adam Shankman, "Dancing with the Stars" judge Carrie Ann Inaba and actress Katie Holmes to help underprivileged young people realize their dream of becoming professional dancers and to support, improve, and increase access to dance education in the Unites States.

The Welsh-Moroccan powerhouse is lining up a comedy à clef of his stripping days, while Susan Boyle's brother reckons Kathy Bates might be the woman for the Scottish singer's story
The Full Monty was a decent film and all, but it wasn't perfect. Where, for instance, was the troupe of irrepressible breakdancing children? Where were all the oddly patterned shirts? And why, for God's sake, wasn't Robert Carlyle's character a Welsh/Moroccan former goat herder with a catchphrase based on his profound inability to grasp the concept of chronology?
Well, fret no more. All of those problems are about to be ironed out. And, somewhat distressingly, Chico from X Factor is the one who'll be doing the ironing. He's co-written a film with a man who Wikipedia claims is his lodger. It's called Lunchbox. It's a "raunchy comedy about a stripping troupe on tour in Europe". It's based on Chico's own life. »

When it comes to my home entertainment collection, I have a problem saying no. If it's cheap enough and I can come up with a rationale for owning it, I'll shell out my hard earned dollars. Of course, this results in my shelves sagging under the weight of unloved and unwatched DVDs that seemed like a good idea at the time -- frankly, I couldn't tell you why I had to buy my very own copy of Step Up 2. But, selling those unwanted discs can be a bit of a hassle, and this is where Glyde comes in. This new service was created by the founder of eBay Motors and promises a new (and easier) way of buying and selling your used DVDs, video games, books, or CDs online.
So here's how it works: you simply sign up for an account, enter your credit card info, shipping address and you're ready to go. »

For any of the creative people involved on the first "Twilight," the past two years has been a dramatic journey few of them ever foresaw happening. At best, the first "Twilight" was going to be a popular teen flick that made somewhere between $50 and $75 million in the U.S. and maybe spawn a sequel. Very few of the behind-the-camera talent saw a massive franchise-creating blockbuster in the making. No one fits that profile more than screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg. Before the property took off, the longtime TV writer's biggest claim to fame was the screenplay for "Step Up" and her producing... »

There have been three attempts so far at adapting Marvel Comics' ultra-violent vigilante The Punisher on to the big screen.
The first film was in 1989, a direct-to-video release starring Dolph Lundgren which omitted many of the character's hallmarks and has been swept aside as a very early and rather ill-considered effort.
Much later, Marvel pressed the reset button and delivered a 2004 reboot starring Thomas Jane and directed by Jonathan Hensleigh, the first directorial role for the screenwriter.
After various deliberations over putting a sequel in motion, Jane and Hensleigh dropped out and the next film, Punisher: War Zone, saw Ray Stevenson take over the lead role and Lexi Alexander directing. It came out in December last year in the USA, and in February in the UK.
Marvel itself was involved in producing the latter two movies, which Lionsgate distributed in the USA and Sony's Columbia Pictures handled overseas.

Jenna Dewan-Tatum tweeted yesterday that she would be both presenting and performing with "So You Think You Can Dance" dancers and more at the upcoming Dizzy Feet Foundation benefit, and today, she announced that Chan would also be presenting with her.
Dizzy Feet Foundation was founded in 2009 by producer Nigel Lythgoe, director Adam Shankman, "Dancing with the Stars" judge Carrie Ann Inaba and actress Katie Holmes to help underprivileged young people realize their dream of becoming professional dancers and to support, improve, and increase access to dance education in the Unites States.
Guided by a board consisting of some of the most illustrious names in the American dance community, the foundation's mission is threefold: (1) to provide scholarships to talented students studying at accredited dance schools, studios, or institutions; (2) to establish national standards for dance education and an accreditation program for dance schools in all of the major styles of dance; and (3) to develop, »

Aliens In The Attic (Blu-ray)
Directed by: John Schultz
Cast: Carter Jenkins, Austin Robert Butler, Ashley Tisdale, Robert Hoffman, Kevin Nealon, Doris Roberts, Andy Richter
Running Time: 1 hr 28 mins
Rating: PG
Due Out: November 3, 2009
Plot: A quartet of heavily-armed extra-terrestrials come to Earth to retrieve a previously abandoned doomsday machine. Who can stop them? Kids!
Who’s It For? This is the fluffiest and family-friendliest presentation of a possible alien takeover in eons. The tiny green aliens are scary more than ugly, and the overall violence in the film is for the most part slapstick. My dog would probably scamper down to the basement after a couple of loud crashes, but she has always been a wuss.
Movie:
Aliens In The Attic is a movie of shenanigans from start to finish. Before the title becomes relevant, the kids are partaking in rebellious activity, like giving the online school grades the ol’ two letter grade bump, »

Quickcard Review – Chicago International Film Festival Review
Directed by: Andrea Arnold
Cast: Katie Jarvis, Michael Fassbender
Running Time: 2 hrs, 3 mins
Rating: R
Plot: A 15-year-old girl (Jarvis) who lives with her mother and sister in public housing has dreams of becoming a hip-hop dancer.
Who’S It For? Tired of movies that portray “the streets” with too much sparkle? Want a bit more reality in your coming of age stories? Here’s Fish Tank.
Overall
With long takes and no musical score, Fish Tank is one of those films that is subtle in presentation – but is as large as life when considering its story. It’s the tale of growing up and getting out like we’ve seen before, but this time without the soft edges. Some more than obvious imagery at the end of the film provides us with closure, but not before irrevocable mistakes are made first. »

Adam Shankman is a busy, busy man. Since directing 2005’s The Pacifier and Cheaper By the Dozen, Shankman has barely had a break, taking on numerous projects directing, producing, and choreographing films, as well as being a judge on the hit show So You Think You Can Dance. Now Shankman is adding another project to his résumé with a film version of the Broadway musical Rock of Ages.
Rock of Ages has been incredibly successful on the stage (the play has earned five Tony nominations), and if his work with Hairspray is any indicator, Shankman is just the man to make the stage production translate to the big screen.
With films such as dance flicks Step Up and Step Up 2: The Streets and the hit musical Hairspray to his credit, Shankman has had experience working in genres that may have less widespread appeal than some. This is part of »

New Line have picked up a pitch by Step Up 3D writers Emily Meyer and Amy Adelson for teen romcom What Boys Want, featuring Disney Channel star Selena Gomez.Does that title sound familiar? Try this: it's about a girl who can hear what the opposite sex are thinking.Yup indeedy. Although there's no mention of it in Variety's story, this is sounding awfully like a sequel or a spinoff or a reboot or just something that sounds very unofficially similar to 2001's Mel Gibson starrer What Women Want, in which Gibson played a guy who... could hear what the opposite sex were thinking.Gibson used his talent to win Helen Hunt, but Gomez's potential conquest has yet to be revealed. We're sure he will be wholesome. At least by the end of the movie. »
