  • Errors in geography: During the final chase when Thorn is taking Damien to a church with British police officers in pursuit, Czech script ('Prague 2 Municipal District') is clearly visible on the shop fronts.

  • Continuity: The 'Bishop's Park' sign in 'London' is obviously only made of card and stuck on a Prague wall as one side can be seen to lift off during the storm.

  • Continuity: At the zoo when Damien is looking at the monkeys, his hat is on/off/on between shots.

  • Errors in geography: At the end of the film when Robert is driving to the church, both Robert and the Police are driving on the right-hand side of the road rather than the left as would be proper in the UK.

  • Continuity: When Jennings shows Thorn the first picture of Damien's birthday party, we can see its outline from behind and it shows a different event.

  • Boom mic visible: Boom mics visible during the Thorns' discussion in Robert's office, in Father Brennan's home when Thorn and Jennings are investigating, and when Thorn and Jennings are speaking to Bugenhagen.

  • Continuity: At the end when Robert Thorn takes Damien in the car to take him to the church, Robert clearly puts a car key into the ignition to start the car. The 2006 Lexus GS which Robert drives throughout the movie, however, does not have a conventional key with ignition, but instead has a key-fob with push button start.

  • Factual errors: When Robert goes to the opera to see Richard Strauss's "Salome," the final bars of the opera's music are heard, and the next scene is Robert in the lobby, about to be approached by Father Brennan. Soon after, the house lights began flashing to indicate that intermission is over. "Salome" is a one act opera, no intermission is given.

  • Audio/visual unsynchronized: In the final car chase scene, the engine of the Lexus that Robert is driving sounds more like a single seater sports car than a family saloon.

  • Continuity: During the final chase scene, Robert is seen holding Damien down with his left hand while Damien kicks and screams. However, when he is shown driving, he is using both of his hands to steer the car. With each cut back to Damien, he is being held down again.

  • Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): The town of Megido that father Spiletto tells Robert about is not "just south of Jerusalem" but actually much to the north. It is located between Haifa and Hadera.

  • Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): The name Megido is not derived from the word Armageddon, but rather the other way around. Armageddon is Latin distortion of "Har Megido", or "Mount Megido" in Hebrew.

  • Errors in geography: Thorn and Jennings are seen going through military road blocks on the way to the narrow streets of Megido. But Megido is a green Kibutz located well within Israel.

  • Continuity: When Mrs. Baylock first goes to see Damien, the picture of the hanging nanny on the wall, drawn by Damien, disappears between shots.

  • Factual errors: When Thorn and the photographer arrive in Megido they're stopped at an Israeli check point, but the Israeli army doesn't use the German style helmets used by the US Army and other armies.

  • Continuity: While escaping from the embassy, Robert's car sides are visibly damaged. When he stops by the church, the sides are in perfect condition.

  • Continuity: When the photographer took the picture of Father Brennan as he was leaving the building where Damien's father worked at, the guard escorting him had no weapon visible. However, when the photographer was developing the pictures in his studio, the picture of Father Brennan and the guard could be seen and the guard was then shown holding a type of automatic weapon.

  • Factual errors: The skeleton of the baby in the grave appears to have a fully formed skull. If the child died as a baby or even a year later, the sutures would not have closed up yet, leaving the skull basically in pieces.

  • Continuity: During the scene in which Katherine brings Damien to visit Robert at work (near the beginning of the movie), Damien is clearly seen being carried in her arms. However, when Robert finally meets with Katherine to inform her of his promotion, Damien is no where in sight.

  • Factual errors: Jennings develops his photo prints in a red-lighted darkroom, but in the background there is white light coming through windows behind him. This would ruin the prints.

  • Errors in geography: In the final car chase there are tram lines visible, yet there are no tramlines in central London.

  • Errors in geography: When the front of the American embassy in London is shown it appears to be on the river, when in fact it is in Grosvenor Square nowhere near the river.

  • Factual errors: Even though Thorn is supposed to be the American ambassador, his car does not have diplomatic service number/license plates.

  • Continuity: When the armed police arrive in the church at the end of the film a police officer raises a hand gun and fires it, only one shot is heard but then another officer lowers a rifle which is smoking as if it had been fired.

  • Factual errors: When Father Brennan visits Robert at the US embassy in London, the US flags in the background can be seen resting on the floor. It is against US regulation to have the flag ever touch something beneath it, especially the floor and unlikely that such an offense would go unnoticed by the government officials working there.

  • Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): On the wall in Damiens' room is a child's drawing of the Nina, the Pinta, and the Santa Maria, on the sails of each the red cross pattée, a form of the 'crux immissa quadrata.' It is highly unlikely that the child would not have recognized or sensed the religious import of these crosses given his reaction to the icons at the church. He would have rejected having any interest in duplicating them.

  • Revealing mistakes: The camera the photographer uses is a Nikon D2x - a digital camera - making it implausible that he later makes prints of the photos he took.

  • Continuity: When Ambassador Thorn arrives at the Embassy after the nanny suicide, one of the reporters is played by Harvey Stephens, the original Damien from 1976. When Thorn is heading towards the door he is followed by Harvey Stephens at his right side. In the following shot, when we see them walking towards the camera, Stephens has moved to the left side of the Ambassador.

  • Revealing mistakes: When the spike falls from the church tower to kill the priest it goes through a stained glass window. In slow motion, you can see the glass breaking completely and then the spike appearing out of thin air, when it should have been visible from the very first break in the glass.

  • Revealing mistakes: During Father Brennan's flight to the church, lightning strikes near him two times; once it strikes the fence just after he scales it and the second time it strikes and severs the lightning rod, impaling him. At neither time is the lightning strike accompanied by the sound of thunder; a lightning strike so close to the priest would be accompanied with almost simultaneous thunder.

  • Revealing mistakes: When the photographer shows Ambassador Thorn the newspaper account of the priest's death, the headline has a grammatical error. It reads: "Freak accident during yesterdays unseasonal storm". "Yesterdays" should be "yesterday's".

>>> WARNING: Here Be Spoilers <<<

Goofs below here contain information that may give away important plot points. You may not want to read any further if you've not already seen this title.

  • Continuity: SPOILER: When Robert Thorn escapes in the car with Damien to take him to the church to kill him, the damage caused by Mrs Baylock and from his evasive driving varies from shot to shot.

  • Factual errors: SPOILER: A bubble of air in an IV line would not be able to go through the pump. The pumps notice when there are air bubbles and beep, saying "air". Even if this pump did not have this feature, which is highly doubtful, the air pumped into Kate's vein is not a lethal dose.
