Julia Stiles is the latest actress to be caught up in the web of rumour and speculation about a role in Spider-Man 4.
The 28-year-old, whose credits include all three Bourne films and The Omen remake, met with a casting company in New York, according to Ugo.
No role was specified, but it's being speculated she is another actress under consideration to play villainous love interest Felicia Hardy aka Black Cat. It's worth adding that we don't yet know if Black Cat is even part of the story.
Stiles had apparently been considered for the role of Susan Storm/Invisible Woman in Fantastic Four, before Jessica Alba landed the part.
Rachel McAdams earlier denied reports that she had met with producers over the Black Cat role. Romola Garai admitted being among hundreds of actresses who had attended open auditions but said she was not going to be cast in the film.

Fango editor Tony Timpone reported in from the American Film Market with word that Lionsgate has apparently picked up U.S. rights to Solomon Kane. The supernatural adventure was written and directed by Deathwatch and Wilderness helmer Michael J. Bassett, based on the character created by Conan scribe Robert E. Howard.
Release plans have yet to be ironed out, though our source suggests the film might get theatrical play before heading to DVD. We’ll keep you posted on confirmed details. Solomon Kane stars James Purefoy (pictured) in the title role of a mercenary who has renounced his violent, bloodthirsty past, then finds his soul tested when he must protect a family from evil forces. The cast also includes The Exorcist’s Max Von Sydow, The Omen’s Pete Postlethwaite, Sleepwalkers’ Alice Krige and An American Haunting’s Rachel Hurd-Wood.
In addition, it was revealed yesterday that Genius Products has nabbed U.

Actor Charles Dance's sophomore outing in the director's chair is set to be a supernatural one called The Inn at the Edge of the World .
Shooting is anticipated to start sometime in the first quarter of 2010 with actors Michael Gambon ( The Omen redo), Stephen Fry ( V for Vendetta ) and Penelope Wilton ( Match Point ).
That's a strong cast for this story of a group of people who spend Christmas on a remote Scottish island. Flashes of "supernatural mysticism," however, make it a holiday they'll never forget.
If you recall, Dance starred in David Fincher's Alien 3 and was the villain in The Last Action Hero . He started directing with the film Ladies in Lavender .

50 Influential Scream Queens: Part 2

Before I launch into the conclusion of my 50 Influential Scream Queens (read part 1 here), please let me remind you that this list is based upon my personal taste, and my personal taste alone. I didn't poll 100 Fango readers, the Fango staff or any other form of 'industry professionals'. It's all opinion, so if you feel I've wronged a certain actress by excluding them from the list, don't leap to brand the entire Fango crew 'vile'. I probably just don't personally find their work to be that influential. Either that or I'm just ignorant to their accomplishments!
25. Mia Farrow: Mia's genre work may be a bit limited, but that doesn't change the fact that Rosemary's Baby will forever be regarded as one of the creepiest films in history. Farrow's portrayal of Rosemary Woodhouse is harrowing to say the least, and will always remain (in my mind) one of the best performances the genre has seen.

Welcome to Gore Girls! MTV contributor Terri Schwartz doesn't know crap about the horror genre, and she's volunteered to be our Movies Blog guinea pig. She has a good guide too. Fellow contributor Jenni Miller is a bonafide horror enthusiast, and she's willing to walk Terri through her formative experiences with blood, guts, monsters and maniacs. Together, this dynamic duo are horror's own odd couple, The Gore Girls!!! Good luck Terri... you're definitely going to need it.
Jenni and Terri revisit Roman Polanski for this week's edition of Gore Girls, shrieking their way through the terror of his classic "Rosemary's Baby." In the movie, a married couple moves into a creepy, old New York City apartment. Strange things start to happen and... well... you probably know the rest. The wife is mysteriously impregnated and her baby turns out to be... let's just say he's trouble and leave it at that,

James Purefoy Goes All Van Helsing in New 'Solomon Kane' Trailer

I have this pet theory about movies, and that is sometimes I think it's much more fun to watch everything go wrong than go right. What I mean by that is that when you get that feeling that the film had every intention of being a straightforward action, drama, whatever, and instead winds up as a comedy. Call me crazy, but it makes me like a film just a little bit more. The reason I mention this is that after watching the first English language trailer for Solomon Kane, in two minutes flat I was able to figure out that this film might look silly, but I don't mean that it looks bad. Instead, this particular flick shapes up to what I like to call a 'Cornball delight' -- and to give you an idea of what I mean, think of a movie like Reign of Fire.

Shouting Match: Best Horror Film of the Decade

With Rob Zombie's Halloween II and the fourth installment in the Final Destination series out in theaters this weekend, Fsr's resident Devil's Advocate Josh Radde and guest Adam Sweeney decided not to debate between the two franchises, but rather: what is the best horror film of the decade? Shouting Match, heading up to the end of 2009, will occasionally jump into "decade-review mode" and determine what we thought shined in the first part of this bitchin' new century.
Opening Statement (Josh)
Over the past half century, certain horror films have carved out a niche in which they grew to the heights of their popularity. In the 60's we saw Mama's boy Norman Bates stab a lady in the shower. Spielberg made us think twice about jumping into the ocean in the 70's. The slasher genre hit its absolute apex with Freddy, Jason, and Michael Myers in the 80's. Drew Barrymore was the first victim of the 90's horror

I would list 10 things I love about Julia Stiles, but I don't have the energy to try to justify the existence of A Guy Thing and Down To You. With that in mind, I'll just cut to the chase: one reason I love Julia Stiles is this parody video, which takes a jab at several of the so-called celebrity "designers" (yes, you, Lindsay!) who've unleashed their ill-advised visions on the world. Not only does the video prove that Stiles is best when delivering that acerbic wit of hers, but I have to give the girl props for supporting the journalists: "People say that the newspaper industry is dying, but I say it's living. Living on your body." Watch the parody below to see Stiles' eco-friendly invention of shants, and think about how much this makes up for The Omen.

Some movies release so much information during the filming process that you feel like you’ve seen the entire film before it even hits theaters (Transformers 2 and Terminator 4, I’m talking to you.) Then there are some films that give so little pre-release information that some begin to think there may not be a movie at all - Black Death and Solomon Kane come to mind.
The first time we heard about Solomon Kane was January of 2008 and then nothing until Comic-Con when Screen Rant writer Rob Keyes reported that the trailer and footage for Solomon Kane was “surprisingly, very awesome.” Well, now the great guys at Bloody-Disgusting have posted some pictures from the movie and they look pretty decent. See what you think below.

Director Robert Sigl of the Fango Video title School’S Out sent along the scoop on his new feature The Spider, a macabre tale of reincarnation and possession. With a planned start date of fall 2009, The Spider will center on Tom Giltrap, “a medical student from California who travels to Istanbul, where his parents and his younger archeologist sister Rachel have relocated,” Sigl tells us.
“Determined to liberate Rachel from the grip of his dysfunctional parents—a true couple from hell—he instead unravels a series of dark and terrible events,” the filmmaker, who wrote the script with Leo Gough, continues. “When an ancient tomb is unearthed and desecrated, Rachel is possessed by the murderous spirit of a vengeful goddess. Tom ultimately risks everything to save his sister from the spirit and from their own demonic father, the reincarnation of an evil emperor.”
The Spider, which is set to film in Istanbul and Manhattan,
