“Kick-Ass” Poster: Red Mist

4 December 2009 10:43 AM, PST | Filmofilia | See recent Filmofilia news »

AICN has just debuted a new character poster for “Kick-Ass,” adaptation of the comic book, featuring Christopher Mintz-Plasse (Superbad) as The Red Mist.

Kick-Ass” tells the story of average teenager Dave Lizewski (Aaron Johnson), a comic-book fanboy who decides to take his obsession as inspiration to become a real-life superhero. As any good superhero would, he chooses a new name — Kick-Ass — assembles a suit and mask to wear, and gets to work fighting crime. There’s only one problem standing in his way: Kick-Ass has absolutely no superpowers.

His life is forever changed as he inspires a subculture of copy cats, is hunted by assorted violent and unpleasant characters, and meets up with a pair of crazed vigilantes, including an 11-year-old sword-wielding dynamo, Hit Girl (Chloe Moretz) and her father, Big Daddy (Nicolas Cage).

Kick-Ass” is directed by Matthew Vaughn (Stardust, Layer Cake) and hits theaters on April 16, 2010.

McLovin's Red Mist Gets His Own Kick-Ass Character Poster

4 December 2009 3:11 AM, PST | firstshowing.net | See recent FirstShowing.net news »

A few weeks ago, Lionsgate unveiled the first awesome trailer and first badass poster for Matthew Vaughn's Kick-Ass comic book movie. AICN has just debuted another new character poster for Red Mist, the other wanna-be superhero that Christopher Mintz-Plasse plays in the movie. He teams up with Kick-Ass, played by Aaron Johnson, and well, they kick some gangster ass. I don't know much more about the plot than that, but I don't want to know more. And so far I've got to say, the marketing on this is pretty awesome. I've loved every poster they've put out, the trailer was great, and I've got a feeling there's plenty more to come. Enjoy! Kick-Ass is both written and directed by British filmmaker Matthew Vaughn, of Layer Cake and Stardust previously. The screenplay was co-written by Vaughn and his writing partner Jane Goldman, of Stardust as well. The story is an »

Exclusive Interview: Jon Harris

29 November 2009 6:48 PM, PST | HeyUGuys.co.uk | See recent HeyUGuys news »

Though still only in his early forties Jon Harris has already had a long and impressive career in film.  Having worked as editor on such Brit classics as Layer Cake, Snatch and Starter for Ten and worldwide hits The Descent and Stardust, he is much in demand.  Indeed he most recently worked on the fervently anticipated Kick-Ass alongside Matthew Vaughn.  What would tempt such a man out of the editing suite?  The opportunity to direct The Descent: Part 2. Jon recently spoke to HeyUGuys to tell us more…

Hug: We’d like to start by congratulating you on your directorial debut Jon. The Descent: Part 2 had its World Premiere at Frightfest in Leicester Square and will be released in the UK on 4th December.  Your first feature film is a reality but does it seem real to you yet?

Jh: Thanks very much.  I’m not sure it does feel real at the moment. »

Pathé / Warner Bros Pictures UK have been kind enough to give us an exclusive clip for their latest movie, The Descent Part 2 which is released in cinemas December 4th (with previews on the 2nd & 3rd December). In 2012, he chooses, rather than spaced out aliens or freaky weather conditions, the effect of a gigantic solar flare on the earth's core.

Exclusive Buzz: Pfeiffer with Pfangs

17 November 2009 6:57 PM, PST | FilmExperience | See recent FilmExperience news »

Rumor Alert!

Or, rather, 'Possiblity Alert'! And one you haven't heard yet. The other evening at a dinner party, I chatted briefly with writer/director Amy Heckerling (of Clueless fame). Since her very last feature I Could Never Be Your Woman starred Michelle Pfeiffer, you know I couldn't resist gushing about my favorite actress. The conversation quickly drifted to Saoirse Ronan, who played Pfeiffer's daughter in that film. Heckerling was very proud to have discovered her (...Woman preceeding Atonement, production-wise) and wouldn't you be?

Leaving the party later, I wished Heckerling well on her new comedy Vamps which should go before cameras in the spring. Remembering me as that weirdly obsessed pfan-guy, Heckerling clasped her hands together in supplication and said 'I hope I get Pfeiffer for it.'

[Collective Pfan Gasp!]

Has an offer gone out? Could Pfeiffer finally have a vampiric role? The movie is still in preproduction with only Kristen Ritter signed. »

Kick-Ass Teaser Trailer with Matthew Vaughn Commentary

17 November 2009 5:38 PM, PST | firstshowing.net | See recent FirstShowing.net news »

Those sneaky French! Last week, Lionsgate debuted the teaser trailer for Matthew Vaughn's Kick-Ass. Because of an accidental early leak, that teaser kind of got lost in the mix with the Clash of the Titans trailer (which was also released the same day). So, in an effort to give this great trailer some time in the spotlight on its own, and also because it's pretty cool to see with commentary, I'm featuring this new version of the same teaser that now includes a bit of commentary from Matthew Vaughn. Premiere in France called up Vaughn and got him to talk about the movie and included it over the top of this trailer. So check it out! Check This Out: Another Awesome Teaser Poster for Kick-Ass

11 November 2009 12:58 PM, PST | firstshowing.net | See recent FirstShowing.net news »

"I can't fly. But I can kick your ass." Yesterday evening the teaser trailer for Kick-Ass hit the web, finally introducing everyone to Mark Millar's awesome comic book "super" hero. In addition to that trailer, a new poster has popped up on MySpace, a one-off teaser poster not like the four connected ones we featured last week. As you can tell, Lionsgate is obviously going with the spray paint motif in their marketing campaign for Kick-Ass, as it was used heavily in the trailer and now it's part of the logo on this poster. Not sure I dig that idea entirely, but I otherwise do like this poster a lot. Check it out and let us know what you think? Awesome Early Teaser Trailer for Matthew Vaughn's Kick-Ass

11 November 2009 2:10 AM, PST | firstshowing.net | See recent FirstShowing.net news »

Wow, did not expect to see this until Friday! The first teaser trailer for Matthew Vaughn's Kick-Ass, his beautifully violent adaptation of Mark Millar's comic series, has arrived online officially via MySpace. Holy f*ckin' hell this looks so awesome. I've been a fan of the comic series since it hit and I've been excited for this movie since it was first announced. I knew that Vaughn would deliver! I think this may revive Nic Cage's career and it will definitely put both Aaron Johnson (as Kick-Ass) and Chloe Moretz (as Hit Girl) on the map. If you've seen nothing from this movie yet, you're in for one hell of a treat, I promise you that. Enjoy! The first teaser tailer for adventure fantasy movie "Kick-Ass" has come out through its official website. The more than one minute clip is opened with a narration by the major character, Dave Lizewski, who explains his desire to be a superhero. The snippet also introduces some characters, such as Hit Girl, Big Daddy, and Red Mist.

Based on Mark Millar's comic of the same title, "Kick-Ass" centers on Lizewski, an average teenager whose hobby of reading comic books inspires him to become a real-life superhero. Assembling green-colored suit and mask to wear, he opts to be called Kick-Ass and gets to work fighting crime.

As a superhero wannabe, Kick-Ass actually has no superpower. However, his life is forever changed as he inspires a subculture of copy cats, is hunted by assorted violent and unpleasant characters, and meets up with a pair of crazed vigilantes.

It appears another soon-to-be Internet sensation is already Way over my head as the teaser trailer for Matthew Vaughn's Kick-Ass arrives a little earlier than expected.

The film is based on the ultraviolent comic by Mark Millar and follows Dave Lizewski (Aaron Johnson), a high school dweeb who attempts to reinvent himself as a real-world costumed superhero named Kick-Ass who seems doomed to failure because he's not athletic or coordinated until he runs into real bad guys with real weapons.

Matthew Vaughn of Layer Cake and Stardust fame directed the picture, which Lionsgate will release on April 16, 2010.

Kick-Ass teaser!

10 November 2009 1:00 PM, PST | JoBlo.com | See recent JoBlo news »

The new teaser for the sardonic superhero flick Kick-ass seems to do a decent job of getting the premise across: a geeky teen randomly decided to become a costumed vigilante, and kinda sucks at it. Superbad's Christopher Mintz-Plasse is a colorful competitor named Red Mist, and Nic Cage and Chloe Moretz play a violent father-daughter crimefighter team (Mark Strong is the gangster in their sights). The flick comes from director Matthew Vaughn (Stardust, Layer Cake), who independently financed the movie, based on the high-concept (and endlessly delayed) comic series by Wanted writer Mark Millar. »
