Looking for a sneak peek at Syfy's new mini-series Riverworld, starring Dollhouse's Tahmoh Penikett? You're in luck.
Distributor Rhi has released the first trailer for the mini-series (itself a backdoor pilot for an ongoing series), which also stars Laura Vandervoort, Mark Deklin, Peter Wingfield, and Alan Cumming, among others. The project was written by Robert Hewitt Wolfe (The Dresden Files) and directed by Stuart Gillard (90210).
Here's how Syfy described the four-hour mini-series:
"Tahmoh Penikett (Battlestar Galactica/Dollhouse) and Laura Vandervoort (Smallville) star in Riverworld, based on the popular award-winning series of novels by Philip Jose Farmer. Penikett stars as Matt Ellman, an American war zone reporter who has witnessed the worst of humanity first-hand yet still grasps on to an optimistic spirit. When a suicide bomber kills both Matt and his fiance Jessie, played by Vandervoort, they awaken, separated in a mysterious world where everyone who has ever lived on Earth,

Some non-cbs TV tidbits for you: "Lost" is now found online. In addition to ABC.com, which has offered various "Lost" episodes over the years on its less-than-ideal player, you can now find Season 1 of "Lost" and several Season 5 episodes on the far superior Hulu.com. If you're a Netflix customer, you can stream all of Seasons 1-4 on that site as well. The Aug. 16 season premiere of "Mad Men" will be screened in New York's Times Square. Paul Blackthorne of "Lipstick Jungle" and "The Dresden Files" will guest on Thursday's "Burn Notice," which is the last episode to

Welcome to your Tuesday morning television briefing.
Looks like Kelly isn't going anywhere. Jennie Garth has signed a deal to reprise her role as Kelly Taylor on Season Two of the CW's 90210, where she will appear in multiple episodes, according to Entertainment Weekly's Michael Ausiello. "Garth reappears in episode 3," writes Ausiello, "when Kelly gives Harry advice on how to deal with his, ahem, situation with Annie." (Entertainment Weekly's Ausiello Files)
Elsewhere at the CW,Melrose Place continues to get more and more crowded. Nip/Tuck's Kelly Carlson (yes, Kimber!) has signed on to join the cast of Melrose Place this fall, where she will play a madam who "eventually entices Lauren (Stephanie Jacobson) to work for her as part of her prostitution ring." (E! Online's Watch with Kristin)
Parenthood's Erika Christensen has booked a guest starring role on Season Two of Fox's Lie to Me this fall. Christensen will play Tricia,

Jim Butcher's The Dresden Files: Storm Front Vol. 1: The Gathering Storm
Adaptation by Mark Powers; Illustrated by Ardian Syaf
Del Rey, June 2009, $22.95
It’s never a good sign when anything gets named “The Gathering Storm” – that’s possibly the most generic title in a world filled with blandness and non-specificity. I suppose it’s more understandable when you’re adapting a novel named Storm Front, and you have to call the separate volumes something, and then that phrase rises up out of the collective unconsciousness, and you can’t think of anything better…but, still, it’s a flabby, overused title that needs to be retired for two or three generations to have any hope of not being a laughingstock.
But The Gathering Storm is only the very end of an exceptionally long title, so exhaustion is a plausible excuse. This particular Gathering Storm is the first

Review: Warehouse 13 Pilot from Sci Fi

Warehouse 13, a new show set to premiere on the Sci Fi Channel in July, seems to be a mish-mash of various other shows, such as:
(1) The X-Files, which I loved. You’ve got the two partners here (male and female). The male is slightly more eccentric and a rule-breaker. He’s also the kind of guy who follows hunches, whereas the female partner is much more by-the-book. The difference between X-Files and Warehouse 13? There’s no aliens. Yet.
(2) Relic Hunter. I never watched that show, but Warehouse 13 has an old-world sort of feel to it, particularly the kind of equipment used on the show. This comparison might be bad, because I’m making this judgment based solely on commercials for Relic Hunter, but this makes sense to me.
(3) The Librarian TV movies. I love Noah Wyle and these TV movies were actually kind of cute. It’s

Sci-Fi’s New Show: Warehouse 13

Warehouse 13 is Sci-Fi’s newest product that they’re giving a lot of advertising support to.
Sitting around watching the Sci-Fi (Soon to be SyFY) Channel I’ve noticed that the network is doing what they do best and that’s pummel the viewers with ads about the show repeatedly.
Warehouse 13 is about two Secret Service agents played by Eddie McClintock (Bones) and Joanne Kelly (Vanished, The Dresden Files) who get themselves transferred to a massive top-secret warehouse located in South Dakota.
The warehouse stores odd and strange artifacts that have been collected by the U.S. government. Think about it like that giant warehouse we saw at the end of the first Indiana Jones movie when they took the ark to a storage facility.
The warehouse is run by Artie, played by Saul Rubinek. He’s the one that sends the agents out to retrieve purported artifacts
