Storyline

Kimihiro Watanuki, a high-schooler, is troubled by monsters and spirits who are magically attracted to him. However, nobody else can see them but him. One day, Watanuki stumbles into a shop that grants wishes, and encounters Yuko Ichihara, a beautiful, seemingly all-knowing witch. Yuko doesn't waste time, she offers to grant Watanuki's wish to not be able to see those bothersome monsters and spirits any longer, however, there is a price. Yuko soon sees that Watanuki is a hard worker and would be useful for housework and other chores Yuko wishes for him to do until he works off enough to pay for the amount of power that needs to be used to grant his wish. A nice and intriguing storyline
17 February 2014 | by See all my reviews

I started watching Xxxholic last week and it is safe to say that I am not disappointed. It has similarities to Du Ra Ra as the viewer is submerged into a world of spirits and stuff that ordinary people do not get the chance to take part in. It contains pearls of wisdom for viewers through Yuuko's narration and embodies themes of friendship, trust, and adventure. Whilst it is undoubtedly slower compared to the likes of One piece or Bleach, the pace allows for a more reflective audience and a plot of self-discovery that will warm your heart. Overall: An anime I would be sure to recommend especially for those who want a slower paced but meaningful anime.
