This is one of those stories where a former patient of a psychologist escapes from a mental hospital and starts killing again. Instead of Donald Pleasance as the doctor, we get Diane Cary, who is a lot cuter, but she really looks lost in this episode. The key to getting the killer is that he keeps calling her radio show, so Det. Knight and Det. Skanky (skanky??) set up a phone trace. Of course, when the killer calls the doctor directly, she drives over to his apartment instead of calling the police. Like most police-buddy movies and TV series, if you enjoy the rapport between Knight and Skanky, then the story is just a bonus. If you are looking for a good story that keeps you in suspense, then forget it. Unfortunately, even though Forever Knight is one of my favorite TV shows, they did not put a lot of effort into compelling story telling.
In many ways, Forever Knight is like the Miami Vice of vampires. A lot of style over substance. Many scenes will have Nick Knight pondering his life as he lays on the rug of his home. There is one of those scenes in this episode. That's lazy film-making, and boring story-telling. Still, if you are a fan of the series, you have to forgive all the filler scenes that are put into this show.
