And finally the wonderful conclusion to this three parter. Redux II really is the ultimate climax to this story arc and is one of the better episodes of the series. Mulder comes out of hiding upon learning of Scully's condition and he is now a suspect to the murder investigation of the man found in his apartment. Meanwhile, he doesn't seem to be too interested in his own self preservation. He spends his time with Scully and while he is at the hospital, runs into CSM who wants a palaver. He tells Mulder that what he found in the Pentagon truly is the cure for Scully's cancer. Mulder convinces Scully and doctor to try to reimplant the chip they find. This doesn't appear to be working, and is doing nothing more than making Bill Scully hate Mulder even more than he already did. CSM seems to be trying to earn Mulder's trust. He offers another branch to Mulder. His sister Samantha. They meet in a coffee shop at night and the lady (obviously not really Samantha but another clone) puts on a very good show and leaves most of us including Mulder, pretty convinced that it is the real Samantha. But she gets upset at digging up painful memories and leaves without any hope of ever seeing her again. CSM shows up again and offers Mulder a final deal, a deal with the devil. He offers Mulder the truth. He tells Mulder that Kritschgau has lied to him and he will tell him the real truth if Mulder will quit the FBI. Mulder quickly tells him off and leaves. The time finally comes for Mulder's hearing. But before he goes, he visits Scully who has decided to open up and turn to her faith in her time of need. He tells her what he is about to do and she promises to keep him in her prayers. On a hunch, and in a very tense moment that serves as the clear climax of the episode, Mulder names Section Chief Blevins as the FBI mole. Blevins is horrified and rushes to his office where he is shot. Cut to CSM in his office as he is shot by a sniper sent by the syndicate. And finally cut to Mulder and Skinner outside Scully's hospital room where we learn that Scully's cancer has gone into remission. In these final moments, everything seems to have resolved quite nicely, but we are quickly reminded of Mulder's desire to find his sister Samantha. After all that has happened, this seems to be the one goal that will never be achieved.
The story, the directing and acting, everything about the episode is just perfect making this one of the best episodes of the series. I give it a 10 out of 10.
