The second hour of the two-part Season 5 opener, and third hour of the three part arc is definitely one of the best episodes of the show.
It managed to both MOVE on with the story arc, and give the characters plenty of character development.
In this episode Cancer Man sways away from his old gang as they do not trust him anymore. He wanted to get Mulder working for them by giving him the cure to Scully's cancer and by giving him the opportunity to speak to his sister. It wasn't the real Samantha, but I wish it was her rather than just another clone. at the end of the episode, Cancer Man is betrayed by his own people and shot in his apartment. His body wasn't found because the guy has nine lives obviously.
Scully's cancer storyline also came to an end, we were led to believe that she wasn't cured by CSM's device but cured by her faith instead. A miracle? Gillian Anderson was excellent in this episode, certainly one of her best performances.
I'm glad that the whole 'aliens were just a hoax' thing was denied by Cancer Man in this episode instead of being taken deeper into the story (even though it did make Mulder into a skeptic for all season).
all in all, FIVE stars for this one. It blew my mind.
