Storyline

In the small town of Dillon, Texas, one night matters: Friday Night. Eric Taylor has recently been hired as the head football coach for the Dillon High School Panthers, the town's pride and joy. Friday Night Lights displays the stress that the town gives the high school players to win, and the hope that the team gives to a small town, and how a team has its low points, its high points, and how they come together as a team on their way to victory. Trivia

The uniforms and some football footage were taken (mixed with the taped footage to create the game action) from the Pflugerville Panthers, with one real-life Pflugerville player claiming the show to be a "huge distraction" when he was interviewed during the first season. He also said that a senior pep rally had to be canceled because of the show's shooting schedule. See more »

Goofs

During the episodes showing Coach Taylor visiting, and subsequently working at, (the fictional) Texas Methodist University, the end-zones of the field have "Texas State" written on them. See more »

I LOVE this show and I don't even like football!
3 June 2007 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

With summer reruns in full swing, I decided to give this critically acclaimed show a try even though I don't like football. Well, I'm glad I did because this is a quality show with great performances. My favorite characters include the coach (and his family), Matt, and Jason. The situations feel real and not contrived. Despite what others have posted, the camera-work does not ruin the show. In fact, it gives it a documentary-like feel, which is the point, I believe. I would suggest that you watch the show and decide for yourself if it is worth watching. You can watch every episode online at nbc.com in case you would like to catch up.
