Factual errors: The Park Ranger's uniform in the Grand Canyon kayak scene is incorrect. The uniform colors of green and gray are for a National Park Service ranger. The patch on his arm appears to be for the National Park Service, but is the incorrect patch for the service. Also the badge he wears is the badge of the U.S. Forest Service.
Anachronisms: When Christopher kayaks under the railroad bridge, BNSF engines are pulling the train. BNSF did not exist until the merger of Burlington Northern and Santa Fe railroads in 1995.

Continuity: When Chris is explaining to Wayne that he wants to get away from society, he references his desire to get rid of his watch before heading into Alaska, but when Ron drops him off for the last time, Chris clearly has the watch on as his walks away from the truck.
Continuity: When Chris leaves the "magic bus" to return to society, he looks back at the bus one last time and the bus door is clearly left wide open. After finding that he cannot cross the river and returns to the bus in the rain, he has to reach through a window to open the closed bus door, which he left open.
Revealing mistakes: In the desert when Ron drops Chris off at his camp, Chris hops up onto the hood of Ron's truck. This happens almost immediately after they pull up. Chris should have burned his hands and legs on the hot metal of the hood of the truck, as the engine beneath would still be hot.
Continuity: While Chris is learning how to run a combine, he is harvesting wheat. In a subsequent shot, the combine is being unloaded of corn.
