Yes. Body of Lies is a film adaptation of the 2007 novel by American writer and journalist David Ignatius.

Those who have both seen the movie and read the book say that one of the biggest differences between them is that the movie leaves out the Alice and Gretchen characters, makes Roger Ferris (Leonardo DiCaprio) single, and gives him a love interest in the form of a Middle Eastern woman named Aisha (Golshifteh Farahani).

As they pull Ferris from the wreckage, he frantically screams for Bassam. As he recouperates in Qatar, he asks Hoffman what the plans are for Bassam's funeral. Hoffman replies by saying "I didn't know the man".
