This is a rather strange film, about a rock star (called Belcebu) that has sold his soul to the devil, but that storyline pretty much takes a backseat for a good part of the film because it focuses on Mani, a junkie who went to jail for holding up a pharmacy. Mani has now been let out of jail, and she returns to the only profession at which she could earn money, which is prostitution. Now, once upon a time, Mani & Belcebu were an item, but something happened & they parted ways. Maybe the devil worship thing? Who knows. Mani is also searching for her sister, who was last seen hanging out with these degenerates. Belcebu is also somewhat despised in general, since his song have supposedly driven plenty of young folks to suicide. So much for repeat customers for their albums, I guess. We also have a young man named Angel, who is a squeaky-clean cameraman who has gotten a job working for some pornographers at a company owned by Belcebu. He's also Mani's neighbor. Despite his squeaky-cleanness, he's beginning to like his job. Perhaps a bit too much. There's plenty of hooking, plenty of drug abuse and just plain despair, culminating in an insanely bizarre party at which there is human sacrifice, and widespread mayhem. Chick-on-a-stick, anyone? Ick.For the low budget, this isn't bad, but it has its faults, number one being the sound, which is tinny and seems to echo...don't know if that's how it was made or if that's courtesy of Troma's release. This does have a rather complicated plot, for a horror movie, but there's also some bizarre black comedy thrown in here & there. And this was made for TV? (That is, according to IMDb.) Yeow! A good addition to my collection of those 80's devil-worshiping metal band movies, of which I have a few. But definitely not for a very wide audience. 6 out of 10.
