Jude Law Denies 'Thor' Casting Rumor

"Sherlock Holmes" arrives in theaters this week, pairing "Iron Man 2" star Robert Downey Jr. with actor Jude Law — who remains a far less prominent star in the comic book movie world than his co-star, despite his comics cred-inspiring ink. (He has a tattoo of Rorschach from "Watchmen.") However, an October rumor seemed to indicate that Law was on track to change all that with a role in "Thor" alongside Robert DeNiro.
Unfortunately, the rumor turned out to be just that, as Law explained to MTV News during the recent "Sherlock Holmes" red carpet event.
"Was there?" said Law when told there was a widely circulated rumor tagging him for a role in Kenneth Branagh's film about the Marvel god of thunder.
When asked whether he'd ever been approached about a role in the film, the actor answered, "No, I had no idea!"
While the rumor attaching Law and

While details are sketchy at best, Tom Hanks appears ready to play Robert Langdon again.
Hanks, who portrayed the professor of religious iconology and symbology in ’06’s The Da Vinci Code and it’s follow-up, ’09’s Angels & Demons, is expected to return to a third entry in the series, The Lost Symbol.
“[He is] all but ready to return to the character of Robert Langdon,” said a source.
According to CinemaBlend, Columbia Pictures is looking to fast-track the project for a 2012 release. There’s no official word from Hanks’ camp nor has director Ron Howard announced his return to helm a third film based on Dan Brown’s popular series of novels.
The thing is, even though Angels & Demons was barely a blip here in America, it made $350 million internationally. There’s still tons of money to be made here and Columbia is willing to keep spending to make more movies. The Lost Symbol is coming.

Director Robert Schwentke’s adaptation of Warren Ellis and Cully Hamner’s “Red” already boasts an impressive lineup of stars including Bruce Willis, Morgan Freeman, Helen Mirren, John C. Reilly and Mary-Louise Parker. However, a report has surfaced naming Karl Urban as the latest addition to the cast.
According to Mania.com, Urban will portray a character named “Cooper.” The report also states that Julian McMahon will play the Vice President of the United States and that Ernest Borgnine and Richard Dreyfuss have officially signed on to the film — reiterating an earlier report of their involvement.
Urban is well known among genre fans for his roles in “The Chronicles of Riddick”, “The Lord of the Rings” series and his turn as Doctor McCoy in last summer’s “Star Trek.” If the report is confirmed, then “Red” will be Urban’s second comic book related film of 2010 following the release of “Priest.

Avatar star Zoe Saldana has said that she is 'proud to be a geek'. The 31-year-old actress stars as Neytiri in James Cameron's new movie opposite Sam Worthington. The star is becoming a hit in the science fiction world as she also played Uhura in the remake of Star Trek earlier this year, but she admitted that she's always been drawn to nerdy flicks. She told People: 'For me, it's been like preaching to my choir, because I was considered what you would think of as a geek. 'I loved stories that helped me escape, and those happened to be the stories that fall into the category of geekiness. So, therefore, I am a proud geek!'

When Zachary Quinto agreed to read the audiobook for the Star Trek novelization, he likely had no idea it would be put to this use (or maybe he did?...). Some Star Trek fan with a lot of spare time on their hands (is there any other kind?), edited Quinto's reading into a rather erotic love story between Kirk and Spock titled "Spork! An Erotic Love Story". Maybe it's just me and my sick sense of humor but I almost spit my Fruity Pebbles all over my keyboard when I started watching

Avatar actress Zoe Saldana is thrilled she is best known for her roles in sci-fi epics - because she's always considered herself a "geek".
The stunning star shot to fame in J.J. Abram's Star Trek earlier this year, and takes the lead female role in James Cameron's comeback computer generated alien-human love story.
And Saldana loves meeting up with fans of her fantasy movies - comparing it to "preaching to my choir".
She tells People.com, "For me, it's been like preaching to my choir, because I was considered what you would think of as a geek.
"I loved stories that helped me escape, and those happened to be the stories that fall into the category of geekiness. So, therefore, I am a proud geek!"

Science Fiction for the Holidays

While many film viewers are flocking to theaters to see James Cameron's latest technical triumph, Avatar, some of us prefer to spend the holiday season avoiding the mania and cozying up on the couch, instead.
Topping our wish list this year is Farscape: The Complete Series, which was recently released on DVD. Included are all 88 episodes and 15 hours of bonus footage including the behind-the-scenes special, "Farscape Undressed," which has never been available before now. Farscape is a series that never gets old, and I relish the excuse to watch it again.
Another full series that's recently come available is Stargate Atlantis. While occasionally terrible, Atlantis was usually great, and Joe Flanigan and David Hewlett were great anchors to the show, and are as much fun to watch as you remember.
The fifth season of Lost is also available on Blu-ray, just in time to snap up and watch in

Zachary Quinto Breathlessly (and Inadvertently) Narrates Kirk/Spock Sex Scene

Sure, it may seem like Holmes and Watson wrested the bromosexual spotlight away from this summer's Star Trek slash pairing of Kirk and Spock, but wait! What's this? Could it be that someone reedited Zachary Quinto's audiobook reading of the Star Trek tie-in novel to create an incredibly dirty, Nsfw love scene between Starfleet's two most eligible bachelors? If you're up for a good time that puts the "alternate" in "alternate universe," turn down your speakers and enjoy a graphic, three-minute encounter between Kirk and Spock that involves just about everything but a repurposed Vulcan salute (for that, we can only hope that J.J. Abrams gets cracking on a sequel right away). Top this, Jude Law!

'Star Trek' Tops One Annual List: Most Pirated

In a year where there were some major standout hits like "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen," "Up," "District 9," and the recently released "Avatar," it seems that J.J. Abrams' latest film "Star Trek" is almost getting lost in the shuffle.
But not when it comes to a list Paramount Pictures probably wish the movie was also forgotten for: the most pirated.
A study by the site TorrentFreak said "Star Trek" edged out its Paramount sibling "Revenge of the Fallen" by just 300,000 downloads, earning 10.9 million downloads total. If each download represented a single $9 movie ticket, that means Paramount lost nearly $91 million to piracy from Star Trek alone. Add in "Revenge of the Fallen," and the number is more than $180 million -- a hefty take.
Following the two CGI/action blockbusters
