HBO has set a premiere date for its World War II miniseries "The Pacific."
The 10-part miniseries, which follows U.S. Marines fighting in the Pacific Theater, will premiere Sunday, March 14 and air weekly through May 16, HBO confirms to Zap2it. The Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg-produced miniseries has been years in the making and makes a bookend to the Emmy-winning "Band of Brothers," which focused on the war in Europe.
"The Pacific" stars Joe Mazzello, Jon Seda and James Badge Dale and is based on a pair of books: "With the Old Breed" by Eugene Sledge (who will be played by Mazzello) and "Helmet For My Pillow" by Robert Leckie (played by Dale).
- HBO has also picked up a second season of its animated series "The Life and Times of Tim," which it will pair with "The Ricky Gervais Show" early next year.
Both shows will debut Friday, »

We know how it is: You’d like to go to the movies this weekend, but you’ll be busy planning your robbery of an armored car so you can pay for your holiday celebrations. But you can have a multiplex-like experience at home with a collection of the right DVDs. And when someone asks you on Monday, “Hey, did you see Armored this weekend?” you can reply, “No, I watched a bunch of other heist movies instead.” Instead Of: Armored, a crime drama about a group of security guards who decide to hold up the armored-car company that employs them... Watch: Do not miss director Nimród Antal’s debut feature, 2003’s Kontroll, a deeply intriguing look at ticket collectors on Budapest’s subway system; it may sound unlikely, but it’s a great film, very spooky and atmospheric. One of the great heist movies of recent years is the 2003 remake The Italian Job, »

As one of the stars of CBS' "Jericho," Lennie James knows a thing or two about shows with obsessive fanbases, so he also knows what he's getting himself into on AMC's reimagining of "The Prisoner." In "The Prisoner," James plays 147, a helpful cabbie who welcomes Jim Caviezel's 6 into The Village. 147 is one of many characters in AMC's "Prisoner" who didn't feature in Patrick McGoohan's original, which ran from 1967-68 and is considered one of the small screen's pinnacles. 147 has a beautiful wife, a precocious daughter and the perfect life in The Village. Of course, nothing »

This isn't a big surprise: fans have started a campaign to save Fox's Dollhouse.
Other campaigns have popped up on the web over the past few years to save shows. While most of them are unsuccessful, once in a while a network will actually listen. This happened to Jericho after fans of that show sent so many nuts to CBS that the network finally decided that producing another seven episodes of the show would be cheaper than having fans send even more nuts to them and having to get rid of them somehow.

Fans of Carol Barbee (Swingtown, Jericho) and Alex O'Loughlin (Moonlight) can look forward to CBS series, "Three Rivers," airing this Sunday, 8 p.m. The locale for the show is the very liveable, lovely city of Pittsburgh, and the "Three Rivers" refers to where the Allegheny River and the Monongahela River join to form the Ohio River. Grabbing my late-night viewing snack, the “thwrick” of the TV snaps on and I “thump” back onto the couch. The hesitant “tick…tick” of the clock is heard overhead as time seems to suddenly stop. The sandpaper, “thrush” of my jittery fingers drag the volume up on the TV; “nick, nick” the volume rises. All of these exonerated, over-the-top emotions are courtesy of the brilliant and nail-biting CBS television show Harper’S Island.
The series, being dealt the DVD edition treatment this week from CBS DVD, is a series I originally looked over this past spring season. The show, created by Ari Schlossberg, who penned the 2005 horror/thriller Hide And Seek, and from Executive Producer Jon Turteltaub, who helmed the other CBS hit Jericho, take us on a wild gut-wrenching thriller ride. Excellently these two masterminds have brought us a series that is unique and original, something that horror and »

I don’t know about you, but when’s the last time you’ve seen a TV commercial for Defying Gravity? I don’t recall seeing one.
It’s been noted that Defying Gravity’s 8th episode is scheduled to air on September 13th, but after that, it’s no longer shown on any schedule for ABC. Despite having 5 more episodes to go.
What gives? I haven’t watched the show myself but when I inquired with our readers on their reviews on Defying Gravity, we received some great responses. The various opinions on the show ranged from
“It’s just a soap opera in space.”
“It’s Virtuality all over again.”
“Like a slow train wreck.”
“Defying Gravity isn’t action based so much as character driven and in my opinion it’s been quite compelling”
First, thanks to all the Screen Rant readers for chiming in with your reviews of the show. »

Unless you caught the low-budget Control, probably your only English-language experience of director Nimrod Antal was 2007's horror quickie Vacancy. Here then, is a look at the Hungarian's take on an action movie, the upcoming Armored. And he can certainly wield a good cast: look out for Laurence Fishburne, Matt Dillon, Skeet Ulrich, Jean Reno and Fred Ward. Hooray! Remo Williams is in this! The plot as you'll see, involves new kid on the block Columbus Short getting conflicted about his security truck driver collegues' plans to hijack their own vehicle. On one hand it looks like standard stuff, but we're always pleased to see Reno, Dillon and Fisho, and it's great to see Ulrich back on the big screen after the cancellation of Jericho. But maybe the most tantalising thing here is that Antal is directing Predators for Robert Rodriguez, and Armored is our first real look at his action chops and visual style. »

Every time someone who starred in Jericho makes a public appearance, it’s inevitable that they get asked if they’re up for more Jericho, and in particular, a Jericho movie.
Sure, we’d love to see an actual project that is given its full due. After canceling the 2006 season show, CBS relented to a second season from fan pressure but barely gave it the attention it was due - It popped out a whole 7 episodes and was canceled again. Sometimes, a show may be a major fan favorite, but the impassioned fans are not as numerous as they need to be.
Some time ago, rumors started floating around that there might be a Jericho movie in the works.
In January of ‘09, executive producer Jon Turteltaub said they were “developing” a Jericho feature and that it would cover a broader scope of events - beyond the town of Jericho itself. »

the dramatic series was cancelled twice in its two year run on CBS, that hasn't stopped the producers from moving ahead with their plans for a third season. But this time, the show won't be returning to the small screen. The third season of Jericho will be available on the racks of comic stores.
The Jericho panel at this weekend's Comic-Con wanted to make it clear to attendees that the new series of comics is a direct continuation of the short-lived TV show; a third season. The speakers included comic editor Cody DeMatteis, actor Lennie James (Robert Hawkins), writer Robert Levine, and Jericho producers Jonathan Steinberg, Karim Zreik, and Dan Shotz.
