"Twilight's" Taylor Lautner is about to get some competition in the studly-werewolf arena.
HBO's "True Blood" has cast Joe Manganiello as Alcide Herveaux, a werewolf who has a good-sized role in Charlaine Harris' Southern Vampire novels and will do the same in the series. Manganiello will have a recurring part on the show, according to multiple reports.
Manganiello is the latest in a flurry of new actors joining the show, which began filming its third season this month. J. Smith-Cameron, Alfre Woodard, Denis O'Hare, Marshall Allman, Grant Bowler and Theo Alexander have all signed on in the past couple weeks, and Kristin Bauer has been bumped up to a series regular.
In Harris' books, Alcide is a full-blooded werewolf who's vying for the leadership of his pack. He first comes into contact with Sookie (Anna Paquin) when Eric (Alexander Skarsgard) asks him to help Sookie search for the kidnapped

Jerry O'Connell's visit to his wife's starring vehicle, "Eastwick", is teased via several promotional photos. It looks like his character will be involved in some kind of confrontation with a kid on a playground before the boy's mother comes in between them.
The episode is called "Magic Snow and Creepy Gene". When the ladies make a pact never to reveal what they did to Jamie, they realize they must go their separate ways - and abandon their powers. A guilty Joanna tries to help Penny find closure.
Sparks fly between Kat and her hot new neighbor, single dad Colin (O'Connell), who has come to Eastwick with his young son Gene and a dark secret; and just as Kat and Joanna are moving on, things get complicated for Roxie when Darryl returns to Eastwick with the truth about his mysterious past.

Jesse Tyler Ferguson to Reprise Role on Ugly Betty

When Ugly Betty moves to Wednesday nights in January, viewers will have an especially hilarious reason to tune in:
Modern Family star Jesse Tyler Ferguson has agreed to reprise his season one role as Dr. Farkus, Betty's orthodontist, on the show's first installment of 2010, which will air on January 6.
Might Ferguson, who plays Mitchell on the funniest new show of the season, perform the history braces removal on Betty?
Executive producer Silvio Horta remained mum on that topic when asked by Michael Ausiello. He simply said:
“It’s a really fun scene between the two of them."
Fortunately, ABC viewers won't even need to turn the channel that night to find out. Modern Family airs at 9, while Ugly Betty slides into the 10 p.m. time slot for the remainder of its season.

Poor Eggs. First he gets shot dead in the head and now he'll have to watch from the beyond as some vampire gets all up in his girl Tara's business.
HBO confirms that actor James Frain -- you may recognize him from "The Tudors" -- has been tapped by "True Blood" producers to play Tara's season 3 love interest, a blood-sucker named Franklin Mott with whom she has a crazy strong connection.
Omg, Tara and Sookie will so be bonding over their vampire boyfriends!
The network also confirms that Broadway stage actress J. Smith-Cameron has been cast as Sam's mom, Melinda Pickens, with whom he has a rocky past.
So, thoughts?

It's good to see that Ugly Betty has a pretty healthy respect for continuity.
The resurgent ABC comedy has inked a deal with Modern Family's Jesse Tyler Ferguson to reprise his season 1 role as Betty's orthodontist.
Ferguson returns in the Jan. 6 episode, the show's first in its new Wednesday at 10 pm time-slot. Might his Dr. Farkus be back to perform the historic removal of Betty's braces? Executive producer Silvio Horta prefers to leave that question unanswered. "It's a really fun scene between the two of them" is all he would say.
Ferguson was inserted into the episode at the

ABC's Ugly Betty hasn't just shot up in ratings for its last episode of 2009, but when the new year comes there's more to celebrate. Having prided itself in its list of guest stars, the show's hauling back one of them for its January return.
Michael Ausiello of Entertainment Weekly reports that the ABC comedy is bringing Jesse Tyler Ferguson back for an episode that marks Betty's Wednesday move. We last saw the actor back in season 1 as our heroine's orthodontist. Three seasons later, he's here again and for good reason. Are Betty's braces getting ready to come off?

"Ugly Betty" Hits Friday Night Highs Before Moving To Wednesdays

"Ugly Betty" is posting some pretty satisfying numbers for ABC, including a ratings high in Friday night's timeslot. The hit comedy earned 5.6 million viewers during last Friday night's showing.
"Ugly Betty" also ranked #1 amongst women ages 18-49 (1.9/6), and taking second place for the night. The show posted its strongest numbers since its two-part season premiere.
But while fans might get used to its new Friday night time slot, it won't be there for long. The show is moving to Wednesday nights where it'll follow comedy lead-ins "Modern Family" and "Cougar Town." The first episode in its new time slot, Wednesdays at 10pm, will air on January 6th.
"Ugly Betty" is now in its fourth season. This latest season, which sees Betty taking on the role of fashion editor, has also featured guest stars like Shakira.

'Ugly Betty' Up in Ratings; Musical Episode in the Future?

Last Friday was one big celebration for Ugly Betty. Not only did Ignacio (Tony Plana) go all out on his multi-culti party, the network had something to rejoice as well. The show managed to pull in its largest audience this season, bringing in 4.8 million viewers overall for the episode "Be-Shure."
The installment centered on the pregnancy scare for the Suarez sisters, Hilda (Ana Ortiz) and Betty (America Ferrera). While it's not that surprising to see how that can draw in audiences, there's also one possible reason for the ratings boost. The fans have done their part to save Ugly Betty.

While Ugly Betty has aired to critical acclaim so far this season, the move to Friday nights hasn't helped the show's ratings.
Fortunately for fans, America Ferrara and company are moving to Wednesday nights in early 2010. The actress discussed that developments, and others, in a recent interview with TV Guide Magazine...
On the season so far: I’m really proud of the work we’ve been doing this season. And our audience has been responding in an overwhelmingly happy way about the creative place of the show, which is very fulfilling. We’re making episodes that we’re proud of. That’s enough for me.
On changes to Betty: The plan was always whatever her physical and her inside journey is, that it would happen naturally and organically. It’s been spoken about as a big makeover but really she pushed her bangs to the side and has a new pair of red glasses.

Fast National ratings for Friday, Dec. 11, 2009
The world is upside down. Dogs and cats are living together. CBS did not win Friday night. It didn't even come in second. Instead, "Law & Order" and the ongoing train wreck that is Tiger Woods' life on "Dateline NBC" took center stage, winning the night for the network with an interview with alleged mistress Jamie Jungers. In addition, ABC's fresh lineup took in more viewers than CBS' night of holiday programming and repeats.
NBC led the way Friday, averaging 7.96 million viewers and a 5.2 rating/9 share in households. ABC had a solid second place with 5.6 million and a 3.8/7, followed by CBS (4.8 million, 3.1/5), Fox (2.4 million, 1.5/3) and The CW (1.4 million, 0.9/2).
The race for the 18-49 adult demo played out the same way, with NBC in front with 1.7, ABC's 1.5 securing second, followed by CBS' 1.2, Fox's 0.9 and The CW's 0.5.
