Trivia:

The main villain in this movie, Surat, was portrayed by Nirattisai Kaljaruek, Thai drama's director and the executive of Kantana Group, the well-known TV program and film production company. In the 1999 version of Bangkok Dangerous, the man who portrayed as the main villain is also the executive of the TV program production company.

Goofs:

Continuity: When Joe blows Surat's aide by a grenade in the climax scene, we see the body of the man splits in two. Next shot is of the room door exploding due to the grenade blast. Then again we see the man's body splitting in half. The torso flies off over Joe and the limb portion remains in front of him. In the next shot both the torso and limb parts disappear and Joe goes inside the room.

I enjoyed it

I've read many of the reviews here about this movie and I must disagree with most of them.

While the original was definitely grittier and more native, due in part to the lower budget I'd guess, this production was more polished and even a bit "Hollywood like". Cage's acting was exactly what I expected and the location filming lent a very accurate air of realism.

There is a story being told here so the movie does move between intense action and quieter moments.

If you dislike remakes of films in general then I suppose this may not appeal to you. But if you are a fan of Nicholas Cage, or have ever visited Thailand for that matter, then I can wholeheartedly recommend this film to you.
