Is it fair to compare a young, second time film maker with one of cinema's all time greats? No, of course it's not. But if Thomas Ikimi's ultra low budget debut Limbo wasn't enough to convince you that he has aspersions towards making the same sort of high concept thrillers that made Hitchcock famous, well, a quartet of concept posters for his sophomore effort are here to make that point clear. Titled Legacy, the film stars The Wire's Idris Elba in the lead and the just-released poster art has that classic Saul Bass influence all over it.
Here's the press release that went out went we first covered the film back in May:

Owen Wilson is set to play the voice of a dog in canine
comedy 'Marmaduke'.
The star whose recent dog-themed movie 'Marley and Me', in
which he starred in alongside Jennifer Aniston, grossed $240 million dollars at
the box office - is going one step further with his next film, and playing the
dog.
The movie, based on a popular comic strip, will follow
Marmaduke's owners as they relocate to Florida with their Great Dane.
Other dog voices will be provided by Black Eyed Peas singer
Fergie, comedian Steve Coogan and the Wayans brothers, whilst humans are played
by Judy Greer, Lee Pace and William H. Macy.
40-year-old Owen has already done some voice work in the
upcoming animated Wes Anderson film 'Fantastic Mr. Fox.'
'Marmaduke' is set for a June 2010 release.
George Clooney has also been linked to another Fox
Searchlight movie this week,

Owen Wilson to Voice ‘Marmaduke’

Owen Wilson has signed to voice the title pet in Marmaduke, the Great Dane of the long-running comic strip in an adaptation for Fox and New Regency. It will be live-action combined with CGI animals.
Judy Greer, Lee Pace and William H. Macy are playing humans, and the rest of the animals will sound like Fergie (”The Black Eyed Peas”), Emma Stone, George Lopez (let me guess, a chihuahua?), Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Steve Coogan, and Damon and Marlon Wayans. Tom Dey (Shanghai Noon, Showtime) is directing.
Did no one see Garfield? Even Bill Murray regret that. (Side note: this is much better.)
The plot will be based on the Brad Anderson comic strip created in 1954, so they’ll have 55 years of canine humor to mine gold from. It must be nice to have a job where you can scrawl out a year’s worth of awful dog jokes and sit around the rest of the 364 days.

What is it with Owen Wilson and movies about dogs? Last year, Wilson joined Jennifer Aniston in the heart string-yanking, super-melodramatic dying dog movie Marley and Me, and now THR is reporting that he'll be voicing the rascally Great Dane Marmaduke on the big screen.
Based on the popular comic strip that was created in 1954 by Brad Anderson and Phil Leeming, with a script by Tim Rassmussen and Vince Di Meglio (License to Wed, Smother), this live-action/CG movie will follow a family named the Winslows who move from Kansas to Orange County with their dog Marmaduke, a slobbery pooch who creates chaos wherever he goes. It will see the title character "navigate a volatile Mutts vs. Pedigrees turf war, woo the purebred of his dreams and overcome a fall from grace."
Tom Dey (Failure to Launch, Shanghai Noon) will direct the feature, with Judy Greer, Lee Pace and William H. Macy making up the human cast

Owen Wilson Signs on for Marmaduke

When a live action Marmaduke movie was first announced [1] back in March, Fox still hadn't quite decided if they wanted the comic strip-based Great Dane to be a CG mutt or the real thing. Ironically, it was the success of the Owen Wilson/Jennifer Aniston rom-com Marley and Me that made them think that a live action dog might be the way to go. I say it's ironic because this week Owen Wilson has apparently signed on to star in this film as well... as the voice of the computer animated version of Marmaduke!
The Hollywood Reporter [2] says that Wilson will headline a voice cast that also includes Damon and Marlon Wayans, Emma Stone, George Lopez, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Steve Coogan and Fergie. The human family in the film will be played by Judy Greer, Lee Pace and William H. Macy. There's no question that this is a gig that probably should be below Wilson,

· Owen Wilson will return to Marley and Me territory while voicing the title character in Marmaduke, a live-action/CGI adaptation of the one-panel comic strip about everybody's favorite mischievous Great Dane. Thankfully, this is one logline that's not under wraps: "[The script] sees Marmaduke navigate a volatile Mutts vs. Pedigrees turf war, woo the purebred of his dreams and overcome a fall from grace." Sounds heavy! Get your "The Dog Dies" spoiler graffiti ready just in case. [THR]

Owen Wilson is going to the dogs.
First he starred alongside an adorable golden lab in Marley and Me, and now he will be starring as…well, as a dog himself.
Wilson has signed on to voice the role of Marmaduke, the title character of a long-running comic strip that is being made into a live action film by Fox.
The cartoon, and subsequently the movie, follows the antics of Marmaduke, a mischievous Great Dane. In the film, we’ll see Marmaduke encounter a Mutts vs. Pedigrees battle over territory, attempt to woo the lady-dog of his dreams, and overcome a fall from grace.
Acting alongside Wilson will be Judy Greer, Lee Pace and William H. Macy as the humans in the film, with Fergie, Emma Stone, George Lopez, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Steve Coogan, Damon Wayans, Marlon Wayans providing voices to the non-human characters.
The film will be directed by Tom Dey

At last, young kids have had a reason to go to the movies. (July's G-Force was the most recent opportunity and some parents are still reeling from the experience.) Sony Pictures' PG-rated Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs will open this weekend in 2-D, 3-D and IMAX and is destined to lock into the number one spot over three other new films: Love Happens, The Informant!, and Jennifer's Body. How will those movies open? Now that's where it gets interesting. Megan Fox -- the controversial 'It' girl of summer - is exploiting her assets in the Karyn Kusama-directed, Diablo Cody-scripted horror film Jennifer's Body while Aaron Eckhart chases Jennifer Aniston's body in the romantic drama Love Happens. And Matt Damon dons a mustache and glasses for his Ocean's director Steven Soderbergh in the R-rated comedy The Informant!
Overall, the weekend should handily beat out last year, when

Toronto 2009: "Up in the Air" Flies High

Four years ago, a friend of mine came home from Toronto disappointed by the premiere of "Elizabethtown," Cameron Crowe's ill-fated, deeply personal story of a man coming home to bury his father. The director of "Almost Famous" and "Jerry Maguire," Crowe was a true heir to Hal Ashby when it came to making melancholy and emotionally moving mainstream entertainments, yet when his cut of "Elizabethtown" (that was ultimately trimmed down in running time) failed to win over audiences here, it was hard to imagine when someone would attempt tp do so again.
"Up in the Air" will be easy to overpraise -- it touches on larger themes of mass unemployment, cultural alienation and technology as a crutch. But ultimately, it's really an expertly done character study that's a dramatic change of pace from director Jason Reitman's previous two films, "Thank You for Smoking" and "Juno," comedies that led
