Since the beliefs that parents want to instill in their children can vary greatly, we ask that instead of adding your personal opinions about what is right or wrong in a film, that you instead use this feature to help parents make informed viewing decisions by describing the facts of relevant scenes in the title for each one of the different categories: Sex and Nudity, Violence and Gore, Profanity, Alcohol/Drugs/Smoking, and Frightening/Intense Scenes.

Sex & Nudity

Near the start of the movie you find that the main character is a supervisor, and is asked to take one of the woman's calls she asks what a man is doing on a party line and then makes faces at the person who first receives the call, this may be seen as the man is masturbating but it is subtle and would probably go over any young viewer's head

Female buttocks are briefly seen.

Bare breast very briefly shown (blink and you miss it), but not clearly visible even then due to the fact the woman is being blasted with water and is thrashing around.

Nude boy slips over in a bathtub, no genitals visible and you don't see the actual event. A woman goes into the bathroom to get him and briefly looks at his genitals, replying that he is circumcised and implying her real son was not circumcised.

Violence & Gore

A recurring theme of the film is that a man, being helped by a child, captures children and kills them with an axe.

A patient punches an orderly.

A mental patient is punished by being taken into a room and being nearly electrocuted. She lives, but the scene is quite disturbing.

A criminal is showed being hanged. The scene is quite disturbing as the man thrashes until he is completely dead.

In a flashback we see the man who kidnapped the children violently chopping with the axe and blood is splashing in his face and his body.

One scene shows the man who kidnapped the children coming into the room where he held the children holding an axe. He goes after the kid and you hear lots of screaming and then a shadow of the axe chopping, with screaming and thumping. This scene is quite intense and frightens even the oldest of viewers at least a little.

Profanity

Moderate. 3 F-words (all of which occur at the institution), +2 uses of the word cocksucker, plus other mild language (ass, hell, and damn).

People casually smoke

No other drugs

The film deals with several adult issues such as, murder, kidnapping, and corruption. And there is one scene in particular that is somewhat intense which includes the execution of an inmate by hanging.

This film has points where it can be disturbing, particularly a womens' mental institution. There are anguished screams for help, almost two ladies are shocked (one is saved), a lady is blasted with a strong hose and then tested for syphilis (presumably the part where an orderly puts on rubber gloves and tells her to spread her legs and tests her).

Others are where a boy talks about being forced to kill 15-20 other boys. This story and flashback goes on for quite some time.

Contains a kidnapping theme. Some scenes are incredibly intense, suspenseful and emotional. Also contains children being killed following their kidnappings. (Explained in violence and gore (see above)).

In one upsetting scene, a boy is forced to dig up the children's graves. He first uncovers a small booted foot, then ribs, skulls, and a frenzy of bones.

In the hanging scene, the man sings Silent Night in a frightened voice until they pull the lever and he is hung.
