Mirrors 2 Goes Before the Cameras, Plot and Cast Details

Lesley Chen of Fox Home Entertainment provided us with a plot synopsis and casting news for the company’s sequel to last year’s Alexandre Aja-helmed Mirrors. Titled Mirrors 2 and directed by Victor (Return to House on Haunted Hill) Garcia from a script by Matt (White Noise 2) Venne, the planned direct-to-dvd film is currently shooting in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and stars Nick Stahl, William Katt, Emmanuelle Vaugier, Lawrence Turner, Stephanie Honore, Christy Charlson Romano, Jon Michael Davis, Evan Jones, Wayne Pere, Lance E. Nichols, Ann McKenzie, and Jennifer Sipes.
The official plot synopsis is as follows: “When Max (Stahl), a recovering addict, takes a job as a night-time security guard job at his father’s department store, he begins to see visions of a young woman in the store’s mirrors. Fox Home Entertainment continues to mine their theatrical horror fare for direct-to-dvd sequel potential (see: Wrong Turn and Joy Ride ). This time, it's Alex Aja's 2008 Mirrors , with Kiefer Sutherland, that's now getting a follow-up.
Mirrors 2 is currently rolling in Louisiana. At the helm is Victor Garcia, director of Return to House on Haunted Hill and the 30 Days of Night web series, "Blood Trails." And scripting is Matt Venne who penned the Masters of Horror episode Pelts , an episode of Fear Itself and White Noise 2 . Fox is likely going to debut the film later next year and we've got a list of the cast members involved including the plot synopsis.

If I told you the next Dark Castle horror-thriller flick would star January Jones and Diane Kruger, you'd probably be interested. If I told you that the most recent Dark Castle horror flicks were Whiteout, Orphan, and Return to House on Haunted Hill ... you'd probably be a little less interested. But with the presence of two stunning blondes (and a half-decent concept), Dark Castle's Unknown White Male is starting to sound a little intriguing.
According to Variety, Ms. Jones and Ms. Kruger will join the very busy (and very lucky) Liam Neeson in Unknown White Male, which "centers on a man who awakens from a coma to find that someone else has assumed his identity, and no one, including his wife, believes him." When filmmaker Dave Parker ( exclusive interview ) set out to direct his latest feature The Hills Run Red for Dark Castle Entertainment, he approached the movie with no restrictions on the movie's graphic content or gore quotient. After all, "unrated" releases of direct to DVD movies are the norm these days.
Dark Castle themselves had great success with the unrated release of their 2007 film Return To House On Haunted Hill . However, when the first cut was viewed for The Hills Run Red , Warner Premiere opted (for now) to only release an R-rated version, forcing Parker to excise approximately 10 minutes worth of material from the film before submitting it to the ratings board.

Blu-Ray.com got a listing of special features from 20th Century Fox for their upcoming DVD release Wrong Turn 3: Left For Dead. Video will be presented in 1.85:1 1080p Avc accompanied by a 5.1 DTS-hd Master Audio soundtrack. And special features include:

- "Brothers in Blood" featurette

While Friday The 13th may officially be out on DVD this week, Ryan Rotten over at Shock Till You Drop decided to check in with producer Brad Fuller on the status of the sequel, currently being penned by returning writers Damian Shannon & Mark Swift. "If we're going to do another Friday the 13th we want to present something audiences haven't seen before and one of the things they haven't seen before is Jason in the snow. We just want to bring things they haven't seen before, but that doesn't mean the [entire] movie will not be set in the snow."
Despite the success of the movie on opening weekend, a sequel has still not officially been green-lit, but if they were to go into production shortly, Fuller admits they're aiming for a August 13th, 2010 release date.

Platinum Dunes Friday The 13th is set to hit DVD shelves on June 16th! There will be a "standard" DVD with the theatrical cut, a "killer cut" which is an extended version of the movie. That disc will boast a featurette titled "The Rebirth Of Jason Voorhees". But it looks like the Blu-Ray is where it's at! The Blu-Ray features both versions of the film, the "Rebirth" featurette, as well as a "Terror Trivia" track, "Hacking Back/Slashing Forward" and "The 7 Best Kills". Friday The 13th producer Brad Fuller checked in over on the Platinum Dunes blog on Bloody-Disgusting and gave some updates on Friday, post their successful New York City Comic Con appearance.
Fuller writes, "We are finishing up on the Unrated DVD this week. That DVD will rock! We have a different cut of movie, that not only has more violence and sex, but it has an additional storyline that is totally different from the movie you will see in theaters. Its not like we just cut a few things differently, the DVD version will feel like a different movie. For those of you who love the theatrical cut, that will also be on the DVD also."

Anchor Bay Entertainment has launched an official website for their upcoming release Red Mist (aka Freak Dog) at: www.redmist-themovie.com. Over there, you'll find a trailer for the DVD (it's kind of Patrick meets I Know What You Did Last Summer), which hits store shelves on February 10th.
