  • Continuity: In The Pink Panther (2006), the diamond was set in a ring. In this film, it is just the gem.

  • Plot holes: In the first film, Beyonce's character, Xania, was allowed to keep the Pink Panther diamond due to some random possession law. In this film, the diamond is on display at a Paris museum without any acknowledgment of Xania donating it.

  • Crew or equipment visible: Towards the end, during the conversation between Clouseau and Sonia, a male crew member is reflected in the rear view mirror of Sonia's car.

  • Revealing mistakes: When Clouseau jumps from the globe to the chandelier, the face of Steve Martin's stunt double is clearly visible.

  • Revealing mistakes: Jacques Clouseau is supposed to be a Police Inspector, yet he wears a uniform that was worn by the Gendarmerie (national police) until the early 1990s. Moreover, the two chevrons on his sleeves would make him a simple gendarme, a non-commissioned officer whose rank is far below Inspector.

  • Continuity: Clouseau and Ponton load a new model Smart Car to drive to the airport. As they drive, the car turns into an older Smart Car, with different rear lights. When they arrive at the airport, the car is a new Smart Car.

  • Continuity: During the finale, when the dumbwaiter opens, one of the plates has a large and decorative napkin on it. When Clouseau jumps into the dumbwaiter, the napkin is gone and a bun is on the plate. When it goes up and he gets out of the dumbwaiter, the napkin that was on the plate earlier can be seen falling out. Lastly, Clouseau's suit is virtually clean of any food and beverage items.

  • Continuity: In the first The Pink Panther (2006), Jean Reno's character had a British accent. In this film, he has a very thick French accent. Likewise, Dreyfus' accent (after being re-cast with John Cleese) has a strong, English brogue.

  • Continuity: At the beginning of the movie, three items are stolen: the Magna Carta, the Shroud of Turin and the Imperial Sword. Later items stolen were the Pink Panther diamond and the Pope's ring. However near end of the movie, only three items were recovered and the characters spoke of getting three out of the four objects back.

  • Plot holes: Clouseau says he doesn't want to leave France because he is afraid the Pink Panther diamond will be stolen the second he leaves. Three months before, he burned down a restaurant in Rome.

  • Plot holes: Diamonds cannot be "grinded" or destroyed by a bullet, yet the suicide note mentions the diamond being destroyed. When the fake diamond is shot and pulverized, nobody realizes that it is fake.

  • Continuity: Clouseau goes to the airport to travel to meet up with the "Dream Team" in Kyoto, Japan. When he heads back to the museum, after knowing the Pink Panther was stolen, the "Dream Team" is already there.

  • Factual errors: The "based on characters created by" credit does not list William Peter Blatty, who created Inspector Dreyfus for A Shot in the Dark (1964).

  • Factual errors: The number on the tail of the Italian Inspector's plane is a number that only American registered planes have.
