Throughout the film, prostitution is a main topic. However there is no actual nudity, just half-dressed prostitutes.

Violence is intense and frequent. Neeson kills people by shooting (some blood) stabbing, and hand to hand combat, there is some neck and arm snapping. There is also a torture scene (see frightening/intense scenes). A man is strapped to a chair and is electrocuted many times; he screams in pain. The violence is also very brutal and borderline PG-13.

In the extended cut (the version originally released in Europe), there's even more intense violence, and the torture scene is shown in detail.

The overall tone of the movie is very intense. Some depictions on slave trade and one torture scene of electrocution (this is only shown in detail in the extended cut).
