Rko’s I Walked With a Zombie Remake Gets Director

Rko has found a director for its upcoming remake of the 1943 horror classic, “I Walk with a Zombie”. His name is Adam Marcus, and he last directed the Val Kilmer starrer “Conspiracy” (you’ve probably never heard of it, cause mostly it sucked), and before that, “Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday”, which as it turns out, wasn’t really the final Friday. Variety has more on the remake: The film focuses on a private tutor who discovers a terrifying family secret while working at the ancient estate of a New Orleans businessman. The original was a forerunner of the corps of walking corpse films that followed. Hartley called the film one of the most valuable in the Rko library. Updated 3/16/2009:  Variety.com has confirmed earlier reports that Rko's Roseblood Movie Co. and Twisted Pictures have chosen Adam Marcus (Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday) to run with the Val Lewton Rko remake of the 1943 classic, I Walked With a Zombie. The report also indicates that Marcus has written the script with Debra Sullivan (Conspiracy) about a tutor who discovers a terrifying family secret while working at the creepy estate of a New Orleans businessman. Adam Marcus to Remake I Walked With a Zombie

During an interview with Shock Till You Drop the director of Race to Witch Mountain, Andy Fickman, revealed some interesting tidbits of news about Jason Goes to Hell director Adam Marcus' involvement in Twisted Pictures' upcoming remake of I Walked With a Zombie.

Marcus will be at the directorial helm for this redux of the 1943 classic, which told the story of a young Canadian nurse (Betsy Connell) who comes to the West Indies to care for Jessica, the wife of a plantation manager (Paul Holland). Jessica seems to be suffering from a kind of mental paralysis as a result of fever. When she falls in love with Paul, Betsy determines to cure Jessica even if she needs to use a voodoo ceremony to give Paul what she thinks he wants.
