'Young Frankenstein' Has been Making Us Laugh for 35 Years!

Marty Feldman as Igor in Young Frankenstein

Photo: 20th Century Fox

As the story goes, Gene Wilder's agent, Mike Medavoy, approached him with the idea of doing a movie combining his talents with Marty Feldman and Peter Boyle. Wilder considered this and thought they could actually make for a great collaboration. "What made you think of that combination?" Wilder asked his agent. Medavoy, in what Wilder calls a moment of "wonderful artistic basis," replied, "Because I now represent you, Marty and Peter." Sometimes this is how classics get made and yesterday was its 35th birthday!

Obviously, Medavoy's proposal became just the right project for the three of them to combine their talents. They had a treatment of a satire on the Frankenstein story, and now all they needed was a director. Wilder - who first worked with Mel Brooks on The Producers - just finished working with him again …

The people who ruined the decade

Part 5: From Sir Tim Berners-Lee to Phil Mitchell

Sir Tim Berners-lee Invented the internet. Omg!

Nice one, Sir T. You came up with a useful, unifying means of global communication that changed the way we went about everything, from news to wanking. Then celebrity bloggers appeared to combine the two: Drunken Stepfather, The Superficial, Dlisted and the grotesque grande dame of them all, Perez "Zzzz!" Hilton, made stars out of socialites, turned the upskirt shot into a goldmine and made being a no-limits prick about everyone acceptable by calling it "snark". You enjoy that knighthood.

Seltzer & Friedberg That joke really isn't funny any more

Scary Movie was faintly amusing, but after seeing the same joke rehashed as Scary Movies 2 to 4, Date Movie, Epic Movie, Meet The Spartans and Disaster Movie, is anyone out there still laughing? Yes: writers Aaron Seltzer and Jason Friedberg, …

Emily Blunt Talks ‘Wolfman’ Delays

11 December 2009 12:23 PM, PST | ScreenRant.com | See recent Screen Rant news »

If you’ve been keeping an eye on the news coming out about the upcoming new adaptation of The Wolfman, you’re probably aware that the film has gone through some pretty major shake-ups: multiple release delays; new editors brought in to recut it; and even a redesign of the wolf man look. Your average citizen would probably look at that information and smell a stinker.

However, despite these problems, the promo materials such as trailers, images and posters have been rolling out like all’s well with The Wolfman and I must say they’re doing a good job of downplaying any issues. But what do the cast have to say about the delays of The Wolfman? Well, one of the cast members, Emily Blunt, who plays Gwen Conliffe in the movie, recently spoke to Shock Till You Drop and she gave her take on why it’s taking …

Exclusive: 'Transylmania' Unveils New Scenes, Hopes to Dazzle Twilighters This Weekend

4 December 2009 12:00 PM, PST | MTV Movies Blog | See recent MTV Movies Blog news »

Technically, “Transylmania” isn’t a spoof film like “Date Movie,” “Meet the Spartans” and the like. But that hasn’t stopped the teens-in-vampireland comedy from cutting together a clever “New Moon”-inspired movie trailer . What's more, stars Jennifer Lyons and Oren Skoog insist that the film’s mix of love, supernatural scares and comedy will appeal to Twilighters.

“I was just looking at all the characters and thinking about that,” explained Lyons, who plays a demonically-possessed co-ed named Lynne in the flick that opens this weekend. “And I realized that almost every character in this movie is looking for love in every ridiculous, goofy way you can imagine. There’s a lot of forbidden love - we even have love between a head and a person; wait, that didn’t sound good.”

Yep, one subplot does indeed involve a severed female head still alive enough to get angry at her boyfriend for cheating on her. …

'The 40 Year Old Virgin Who Knocked Up Sarah Marshall and Felt Superbad About It' is Sadly Real and Has a Trailer

3 December 2009 12:42 PM, PST | Cinematical | See recent Cinematical news »

When I came across the title The 40 Year Old Virgin Who Knocked Up Sarah Marshall and Felt Superbad About It on IMDb my brain shut down and went into an automated fear response of rapid Googling to confirm whether or not it was some kind of hoax. It is not. This is a full-on, feature length, distributed by 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment, motion picture (thank the comedy Gods it isn't getting a theatrical release).

And though you'd rightfully expect that this is a stepchild of the same team who put together cash-in spoofs like Meet the Spartans and both Epic and Disaster Movies, The 40 Year Old Virgin Who Knocked Up Sarah Marshall and Felt Superbad About It has nothing to do with either Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer, which means that we can now add a third name to the list of the horsemen of the apocalypse: Craig Moss. …

Sneak Peek, Promo, Photos & Synopsis – 90210 2.10 "To Thine Own Self Be True"

11 November 2009 3:28 PM, PST | TVovermind.com | See recent TVovermind.com news »

Was I the only one who was weirded out by Annie's "lolita" lip biting and the "sultry" look she was giving t Jasper right before she took off her shirt and they did the deed?  If that's her "sexy" face, she needs to start practicing in front of a mirror.

Anyways….we now have (a few) photos for the upcoming November 17th new episode of 90210, where Kelly and Silver have to deal with the fall-out of their mother's failing health and the surf squad continues to plot to take down Jen.  Also, guess who's coming to dinner?  Annie's crazy drug dealer boyfriend.  Mom and Dad will be so pleased.

A Death In The Zip Code — Although she is conflicted about whether or not she can forgive her mother for all the pain she has caused, Kelly (Jennie Garth) continues to support Silver (Jessica Stroup) as she deals with Jackie’s …

Who remembers the Halloween episode from the original Beverly Hills, 90210 in the second season, when Donna dressed up as a mermaid and couldn't move, Brenda and Dylan went as Bonnie and Clyde and Kelly went as a slutty witch and got attacked by a creep?  I don't know why, but I loved that episode.  It had mermaids And important information about date rape.  I don't know if the new 90210 Halloween episode will be as awesome, but we've got a synopsis and promo photos for you.

Jennie Garth And Ann Gillespie Guest Star In The Halloween- Themed Episode — It’s Halloween at the Beverly Hills Beach Club and Adrianna (Jessica Lowndes) channels Marilyn Monroe to help her deal with the end of her relationship with Navid (Michael Steger).  Silver (Jessica Stroup) and Kelly (Jennie Garth) continue to have differing opinions about caring for Jackie (Ann Gillespie).

Stallone Gearing Up for Rambo 5

31 August 2009 6:06 PM, PDT | newsinfilm.com | See recent newsinfilm news »

In January 2008, Sylvester Stallone returned to yet another lucrative franchise with Rambo, the fourth installment of the one man army series.  Just days after it opened second to the spoof/anti-comedy Meet the Spartans, rumors were already circulating about Stallone returning for a fifth.

At the time, Stallone shot down the possibility of another renegade story when he told the Guardian, “This is the last Rambo just as Rocky Balboa is the last Rocky.  I can’t go any further. It was a miracle that it even got done.” A year and a half later, things have changed for the 63-year-old actor, who is currently in post-production on the action hero team-up The Expendables.

Sylvester Stallone has officially signed to direct and star in a fifth Rambo. No word on whether he will co-write the screenplay like he did on the previous R-rated rampage, but it’s likely he’ll …

23 January 2009 12:58 PM, PST | ScreenRant.com | See recent Screen Rant news »

The Oscars attempt (emphasis on the word, “attempt”) to recognize cinemas greatest achievements each year. The Razzies, on the other hand,  recognize cinema’s greatest underachievements each year.

After seeing the nominees for this year’s Razzie Awards, I’m beginning to think that the Razzie judges need to be given jobs on the Oscar selection committee. Maybe then the Oscar noms would be a little bit more spot-on.

Here are the 2008 Razzie Award nominees for your viewing displeasure.

Worst Picture

Disaster Movie & Meet The Spartans (Two bad movies, one tired-ass concept) The Happening (Ouch, M. Night that’s gotta hurt!) The Hottie and The Nottie In The Name of The King: A Dungeon Siege Tale The Love Guru (Like no one saw that one coming.) Worst Actor
