Mendes' Double Disaster At New York Premiere

10 hours ago | WENN | See recent WENN news »

Eva Mendes suffered a double disaster at the premiere of Bad Lieutenant: Port Of Call New Orleans in New York - she flashed her breast and forgot to remove the labels from her designer shoes.

The movie beauty was in the Big Apple to promote her new thriller on Monday night but was left red-faced when a wardrobe malfunction made her show off more than she intended.

As she posed for photographs, a button on her white shirt popped open to reveal she was not wearing a bra - giving onlookers a clear view of her right breast.

Then, as she stepped on to the red carpet, the labels on the soles of her brand new, grey and black patterned stilettos were clear for all to see. »

Ladies and Gentlemen, A Word from Werner Herzog

6 November 2009 11:31 PM, PST | FilmSchoolRejects.com | See recent FilmSchoolRejects news »

Werner Herzog is crazy and brilliant and German. He's had a random and illustrious career which has taken him to South America, Bear Country, The End of the World and now lands him squarely in New Orleans. The Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans - a remake that's not a remake with a title that looks like it should either involve Martin Lawrence and John Cusack as buddy cops or be stamped on the front of a DVD in the dollar bin - already has buzz surrounding it because 1) Herzog has never seen the film his title borrows from and 2) there is some crazy shit in the trailer. I was lucky enough to see the flick last week (to the break of dawn), and while a review is forthcoming, I thought I'd share some things that the esteemed director had to say on some of the more questionable elements. Defending Modern Warfare: Call of Duty 4 Rewind

6 November 2009 9:09 PM, PST | ReelLoop.com | See recent Reel Loop news »

We here at Reel Loop are expanding our horizons a bit. While we’ll still continue to be primarily a film website, me (Philip) has tortured the site editor (Mr. Erik) to the point where he had no other option to do this. In addition to film and television, we’re going to start covering the other visual medium. No, I’m not talking about pornography, I’m talking about something I have my first memory of; video games.

To kick off this celebration, we’ll be doing what any other gaming site in their right mind is doing and going ga-ga over a certain thing coming out this Tuesday, the tenth of November. It’s an entity so powerful, it’s said to cure cancer. This is something so miraculous, that the poison that is Twilight will implode on itself when the clock strikes 12:01 Am Est on Tuesday. »

Monthly Movie Preview – November 2009 … A Christmas Carol, 2012, The Twilight Saga: New Moon and more

3 November 2009 5:34 AM, PST | The Scorecard Review | See recent Scorecard Review news »

It’s the holidays. We know this because the movies tell us so. This year they waited exactly one week after Halloween to start the Christmas fare with Jim Carrey’s A Christmas Carol. But even though the month starts with Christmas, the movie month plays out just like Thanksgiving.

At first, we’re given an array of wonderful treats that’s we’ll happily gobble up like George Clooney in The Men Who Stare at Goats or George Clooney in the stop-motion Wes Anderson movie Fantastic Mr. Fox. Plus, teenage girls and a few others, will have their vampire appetites filled with The Twilight Saga: New Moon. But then, just like Thanksgiving, you gorge a little too much. And even though you’re full, you look around for something more to eat … and that’s when Old Dogs seems to be your only option.

2 November 2009 8:16 AM, PST | WENN | See recent WENN news »

Actor Nicolas Cage has cancelled his appearance at a New York screening of his new film Bad Lieutenant: Port Of Call New Orleans as he grieves the death of his father, August Coppola.

The retired college dean, and brother of filmmaker Francis Ford Coppola, suffered a fatal heart attack on Tuesday, aged 75.

Cage laid his dad to rest on Thursday, alongside family and friends at the Christ the King Church in Hollywood, California.

He was set to walk the red carpet alongside co-stars Val Kilmer and Eva Mendes days later, at the 8 November event - but has now bowed out of the screening, reports the New York Post.

A spokesperson for Cage had not responded to requests for comment as WENN went to press. »

Inside Story: Nic Cage Blames Advisor for Financial Ruin

1 November 2009 5:00 AM, PST | PEOPLE.com | See recent PEOPLE.com news »

How could one of Hollywood's highest paid actors find himself owing $6.3 million in back taxes and deep in money troubles? The answer is easy if you believe Nicolas Cage. In a lawsuit filed Oct. 16 in Los Angeles, the National Treasure star, 45, claims that his longtime business manager, Samuel J. Levin, duped "lined his [own] pockets with several million dollars in business management fees while sending Cage down a path toward financial ruin." That journey began in 2001 when Cage - whose next movie is the crime drama Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans - hired Levin to oversee and manage his business interests, »

Welcome back to another installment of Insert Caption -- the game that spent the past 36 hours staring at goats only to walk away with nothing but a migraine and a funky odor on its clothing. 'Stargate' Gets Its Due, 'Battlestar Galactica' Finds A Plan And More, In The DVD Report For October 27

27 October 2009 7:00 AM, PDT | MTV Movies Blog | See recent MTV Movies Blog news »

Fifteen years ago I was planning my nights around episodes of "Mystery Science Theater," programming math cheats into my graphing calculator and filming "60 Minutes"-style interviews with Cobra Commander. I was also madly in love with director Roland Emmerich's "Stargate," the German filmmaker's bold sci-fi experiment in 1994 that foreshadowed his big-budget juggernaut "Independence Day" only two years later. "Stargate" is now bowing on Blu-ray as a "15th Anniversary Edition," and it's one of a handful of notable releases during an otherwise forgettable DVD week.

"Stargate" finds Kurt Russell as a suicidal, no-nonsense military officer tasked to lead a group of battle-hardened veterans -- and soft-skinned ninny scientist James Spader -- through a newly discovered wormhole to an unknown destination. The other side winds up being a sandy desert planet whose native inhabitants have kept their human slaves in bondage under the guise of ancient Egypt. It was a wholly original concept, »

New Orleans Film Festival Review: Werner Herzog's Bad Lieutenant

26 October 2009 8:53 PM, PDT | cinemablend.com | See recent Cinema Blend news »

Our friend Michael Gottwald, a filmmaker based in New Orleans, attended that city's film festival a few weeks back and caught one of the first-ever screenings of Werner Herzog's Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans. He wrote in with his reaction after seeing the film in the city that inspired it. The New Orleans Film Festival celebrated its 20th year this month with the city more of a filmmaking mecca than ever. Tax incentives have thrust Louisiana into the Hollywood spotlight, and it.s now the third most popular state to make films, after New York and California. As the studios rush in for just months at a time, the locals find work, but the independent film scene is still in search of strong roots. The Festival itself reflects this: it.s characterized by a dearth of quality between the large, studio-backed quasi-independent releases of the Oscar season (Precious, »

Bad Lieutenant Deserves Serious Release

In this day and age, any indie movie that gets a release at all is lucky, I suppose. But Werner Herzog’s Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans is getting a raw deal. When financeer Avi Lerner isn’t able to get the upfront cash he wants on a movie, he puts it out … »

Iguana Rage: Nicolas Cage’s Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans Headed Straight to DVD?

26 October 2009 2:30 PM, PDT | Slash Film | See recent Slash Film news »

Update: According to a publicist who represents the producers and emailed me regarding the rumor.: "No - we have a slow 35 city roll out." So, it appears many people beyond NY/La will have a chance to dance in the moonlight with a cracked out Nicolas Cage. It's hard both to deny and describe the crazy cinematic potion that has flowed off the marketing materials and clips for Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans thus far. I cannot align these entertaining yet toxic vibes with another recent film, and many critics who see it---and like it---seem to share the task. It's as if the voodoo weirdness that floats throughout pockets of the troubled region seeped into the dailies and into the gainfully employed skin of star Nicolas Cage. Much of this can be chalked off to the film's publicized equation of iguana hallucinations, wild-man director Werner Herzog, and crack rocks, »

Check out some clips from Werner Herzog’s new film Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans. We also threw in the trailer in case you had no idea there was another movie using the name of Abel Ferrara’s 1992 feature.

During his heroic act, McDonagh injures his back and later becomes addicted to prescription pain medication.

Hey guys, I made it back from my two-week trek through Japan, and I'm still a bit jet-lagged -- which means I was up earlier on a Saturday morning than I've been in a very long time. So I thought I would go through and collect a bunch of the news stories that we may have missed over the past week or so. Kasper, Greg and Jay did a pretty good job of keeping you guys in the loop, and to be honest, there weren't a ton of major headlines anyway. I was able to send out some of these via my Twitter account [1] while I was away, but from here on in I'll be back to my usual daily posting routine throughout the week. Note: The next podcast will not be recorded until Monday night since Jay is still away at the Flyway Film Festival [2] in Wisconsin, where his »

Bad Lieutenant Clip: Nic Cage Show his Castle to Eva Mendes

24 October 2009 8:34 AM, PDT | Beyond Hollywood | See recent Beyond Hollywood news »

Nic Cage acting all hopped up on drugs and stuttering his way through a story about pirate treasure and a missing spoon while showing off his shack/childhood castle? Nic Cage does that in his sleep, buddy, and he does it here, in this clip from Werner Herzog’s “Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans”. The loony crime/drama co-stars Cage, Mendes, Val Kilmer, Fairuza Balk, Jennifer Coolidge, Brad Dourif, Michael Shannon, Shawn Hatosy, Xzibit, Denzel Whitaker, Shea Whigham, Irma P. Hall, and probably won’t be entertaining you in a theater near you anytime soon. Unfortunately for Kilmer, this looks like it’ll hit a couple of theaters in limited release before going directly to DVD and cable; but then again, Kilmer is probably used to that. Via Apple. »

2. "Hang out with Jigsaw, they said." -- Jordan K.

3. "Jerry seemed very upset when someone showed up to his Halloween party after having copied his marionette costume idea exactly." -- Abigail M.
