Death by Pattinson!

5 September 2008 9:44 AM, PDT | From The Entertainment Zone | See recent The Entertainment Zone news

I first watched Robert Pattinson in ‘Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire’ as Cedric Diggory. I thought he was great in the part, but I didn’t give him much thought afterwards. The next time I saw him was on the cover of ‘Entertainment Weekly’ posing as vampire Edward Cullen from the eagerly anticipated movie ‘Twilight’ which will be released November 21st. After reading the article about the movie with endearing quotes from Robert plus a synopsis of Stephenie Meyer’s ‘Twilight’ book series, I went online and saw that there were ‘Twilight’ trailers available to watch. When I saw the scene in the trailer with Kristen Stewart as his mortal true love Bella and Robert as Edward where she says, “I’m not scared of you,” and he responds with a smirk and, “You really shouldn’t have said that,” he had me! I bought all the books

'True Blood' is the 'Twilight' for the Over 17 Soap Opera Crowd

5 September 2008 2:51 AM, PDT | From Rope Of Silicon | See recent Rope Of Silicon news

Photo: HBO The fake southern accents, the acting and just about everything else having to do with HBO's new vampire series "True Blood" is cheesy and soapy. It has the cheap feel of a trashy romance novel. It's "90210" with fangs. It's "The O.C." if Ryan was a vampire and Marissa was a voluptuous and equally chaste backwoods hillbilly waitress. Yeah, there are a few differences there, but it's all the same. Only thing is, I am not saying these things to be mean. I enjoyed "The O.C.", all four sh!tty seasons of it. I just received my review copies of "Desperate Housewives" and "Grey's Anatomy" so I am down with soapy immaterial television. Toss in vampires, a ton of sex, violence, nudity and the promise of werewolves and I am sold... at least for now. "True Blood" is based on a world created by novelist Charlaine Harris

There may be a mermaid, but I’m not sure. I don’t want to give away too much, because we’re letting [Meyer] run with her vision… I mean, I will say there’s a good amount of water in the video and … what else can I say?” singer/songwriter Andrew McMahon told MTV.com recently.   Jack’s Mannequin’s new album The Glass Passenger is available for pre-order Here and “The Resolution” is available on iTunes now.  Visit JacksMannequin.com and Stepheniemeyer.com for more info. 1 September 2008 2:46 AM, PDT | From The Movie Fanatic | See recent The Movie Fanatic news

Welcome to the second edition of tMF Monday Double Whammy! Here is where we post articles about the cast of Twilight and much more! While our first article (http://themovie-fanatic.com/exclusive_articles/film_focus/twilight_sept2008_tmf_series/) is quite serious and deals with how teens relate to their parents and how Twilight is making a difference, this article is lighter and more fun! People have been asking, why not do a piece on Kristen Stewart? Actually we already did, many weeks ago, when we featured her new movie called Yellow Handerchief, but we are always happy to oblige. So in celebration of Miss Stewart's budding career as an actress, we've come up with our own look into her work so far... - - - The young actress has yet to prove her mettle when it comes to leading roles, especially in terms of her ability to attract

'Twilight' Series Halted, Read Stephenie Meyer's 'Midnight Sun' Draft

30 August 2008 12:49 AM, PDT | From Rope Of Silicon | See recent Rope Of Silicon news

I read the first book in the "Twilight" series of books, but have since decided not to read the rest of the books after hearing nothing that gives me any reason to continue and it seems author Stephenie Meyer has also decide to halt work on the series, but for entirely different reasons. Posted on her official site we learn the following about her planned novel, "Midnight Sun," which would retell the "Twilight" stories only this time from the perspective of Edward. However, her draft found its way online (really? I didn't know) and she has decided to stop working on the story indefinitely: As some of you may have heard, my partial draft of Midnight Sun was illegally posted on the Internet and has since been virally distributed without my knowledge or permission or the knowledge or permission of my publisher. I did not want my readers to experience

‘Twilight’ actress to star in ‘Summer’

28 August 2008 2:30 PM, PDT | From screeninglog.com | See recent screeninglog news

Ashley Greene has signed on to star in Lee De Marbre’s upcoming indie horror thriller “Summer,” according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The only thing known about the film’s plot at this stage is that Green’s character will encounter a family of serial killers while she’s looking for the father she’s never met.

Stephen McHattie, Barbara Niven and Peter Mooney recently boarded the project and will play the members of the murderous family.

Lee De Marbre is directing a script by Sean Hogan and Christine Conradt. “Summer” is the film’s current working title and may change at a later stage.

Green recently appeared in Mike Cahill’s “King of California.” She will next be seen as Alice Cullen in Catherine Hardwicke’s “Twilight.”

McHattie’s acting credits include “A History of Violence,” “300” and Zach Snyder’s upcoming “Watchmen.” Niven is known for TV’s “Pensacola” Wings of Gold,

Fox moves ‘Australia’ release date

28 August 2008 2:27 PM, PDT | From screeninglog.com | See recent screeninglog news

This coming November is quite the chaotic month as far as theatrical release dates go. First, Warner Bros. moved David Yates’ “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” to July 2009.  Then Summit followed by moving up the release of Catherine Hardwicke’s “Twilight” to Nov. 21.

Walt Disney also quickly followed by changing the release of “Bolt” from Nov. 26 to Nov. 21 as well. And last week, Sony entered the game by pushing back Marc Forster’s James Bond adventure “Quantum of Solace” to Nov. 14.

Still following? Okay, so far so good. Today, 20th Century Fox announced its plan to shift Baz Luhrmann’s upcoming romance “Australia” to Nov. 26, according to Variety. The film was originally set for Nov. 14.

Starring Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman, “Australia” centers on an English aristocrat who teams up with a stockman to drive her cattle across Australia’s most unforgiving land, only to face the Japanese bombing of the city of Darwin.

News Bites: A 'Twilight' Star, Aleister Crowley, and Solondz Finds Funding

28 August 2008 11:33 AM, PDT | From Cinematical.com | See recent Cinematical news

Here are some news bites for our long weekend:

Ashley Greene has had a whirlwind of press lately, once she signed on to play Alice Cullen in Twilight. Now The Hollywood Reporter posts that she's signed onto an indie thriller called Summer. In it, she'll get another horror-themed family, but much less sexy than well-coifed, blood-sucking vampires. See, she plays a girl looking for the "father she's never known." And while that's always a risky adventure -- you never know what you'll find -- this is even more so because her family is a group of serial killers. The film is currently in production in Ottawa. Meanwhile, Variety reports that Cmg has closed deals for Iron Maiden singer Bruce Dickinson's Chemical Wedding. Starz/Anchor Bay are handing distribution in North America for the film that focuses on "the most evil man in Britain," Aleister Crowley. Cmg President Edward Noeltner has noted about the big,

Twilight Star Finds Summer

28 August 2008 12:49 AM, PDT | From DreadCentral.com | See recent Dread Central news

Ashley Greene, the smokin’ hot star of this fall’s Twilight, has signed on for the indie thriller Summer according to this morning’s THR. She'll play a girl looking for her long-lost father who runs into a family of serial killers.

I really hope there’s more to it than that, because man if I have to sit through yet another over-the-top indie fest about a crazy family of killers, I’m going to seriously consider starting one of my own. And you do not want that.

The tentatively-titled Summer is being helmed by Jesus Christ Vampire Hunter director Lee Demarbe; it’s already halfway through its shoot in Ottawa, and the trade reports we’ll be seeing the first footage from it at this year’s Afm.

Twilight Star Toplines Creepy 'Summer' Thriller

27 August 2008 11:42 PM, PDT | From bloody-disgusting.com | See recent Bloody-Disgusting.com news

Awesome! A year or so ago I read a script by Sean Hogan and Christine Conradt entitled Summer, which I thought was really flippin' cool. I was shocked tonight to discover that the film is already halfway through its Ottawa shoot, with Lee De Marbre behind the camera. Ashley Greene (Twilight) is set to topline alongside Stephen McHattie (Watchmen, Pontypool), Barbara Niven and Peter Mooney, who will all play the deranged kinfolk that Greene's character encounters on her quest to find the father she's never known. The Innovative Artists/McKeon-Myones Entertainment-repped Greene next will be seen in December in the vampire thriller adaptation "Twilight" from Summit Entertainment. McHattie will be seen in another anticipated cult project, the Warner Bros. film "Watchmen." Mooney stars in the ABC Family series "Falcon Beach," and Niven has appeared in numerous telefilms.
