Storyline

Brenda and Major Crimes are hot on the trail of a serial killer after he attacks and kills a young woman in her home. Witnesses saw a car with Texas dealer plates and Texas Det. Curt Landry flies to LA to brief them on a string of murders that, according to FBI files, could number as high as eighty-five. All of the murders have taken place in communities adjacent to the I-10 and all have followed the same pattern. As both Brenda and Det. Landry aim to collar the culprit, they agree that, once they apprehend the killer, the one with the best case will prosecute. After a wild chase down the highway, they arrest Jesse Ray Moore, and Landry reveals for the first time that Texas has DNA evidence from one of Moore's victims. Brenda feels she's been had and sets out to ensure that Moore isn't extradited by getting him to confess to the crime. Meanwhile, Clay arrives to take Charlie back home, but Charlie (and Brenda) would rather she stay. Written by garykmcd / edited by statmanjeff

Trivia

Producer James Duff was so impressed with the performance of Kyra Sedgwick's daughter Sosie Bacon in Loverboy, that he wanted her in the show; however, Sedgwick opposed the idea, insistent on her daughter not getting involved with acting. Eventually Duff was able to get Sedgwick to agree to Sosie having a brief role, provided it did not interfere with her education. Sosie portrayed Brenda's niece Charlie for four episodes. This led to what Sedgwick said was one of the hardest scenes for her on the show, where Brenda tells Charlie that she has to go home, with Charlie responding by asking "Do you not want me here?"
