In order to expand the storyline and its universe of paranoia, cunning, betrayal and reversal of unexpected situations, the authors were inspired by the great classics of espionage, such as The Third Man of Carol Reed or Three Days of the Condor, thriller of Sydney Pollack centered on a plot, but also of more contemporary genre works, like the saga Jason Bourne.
In addition to the FBI, a CIA adviser and a former member of the US Navy Commando, Navy SEAL, have been very supportive of the most technical aspects of the scenario and have enabled Peter O'Brien to master the jargon necessary to ensure the authenticity of the film. See more »
At a certain point, the main character is seen taking the magazine out of her handgun. This is done shortly after shooting the same gun, which means one bullet is still chambered. however, when she pulls the trigger the gun doesn't fire, suggesting there's no bullet in the chamber. See more »
Unlocked stars Noomie Rapace, Orlando Bloom, John Malkovich, Michael Douglas and Toni Collette. Evey one of them played an interesting character with some great performances, especially Ms Rapace and Mr Malkovic.
It didn't get very good reviews in the UK press and I don't know why. It starts out as your typical CIA thriller but gets all twisty and turny with intricate plot type stuff (which actually makes sense and doesn't have many plot holes or really stupid antagonists) and masses of action. It was nicely scripted too with some brutal looking violence that kept you on the edge of your seat for most of the film.
