‘Last Man Standing’ Revival Not Moving Forward at CMT
Talks to revive “Last Man Standing” at CMT are not moving forward, TheWrap has learned.

The cable network was in very early negotiations with producers 20th Century Fox Television to revive the Tim Allen comedy last week, but has since decided not to move forward with a possible seventh season. CMT declined to comment.

When TheWrap previously reported that CMT was mulling the prospect of reviving the series, an individual close to the matter warned that a deal would be a longshot. Had Cmt picked up the show, it would have been the network’s second ABC revival after “Nashville” moved to the.

‘Last Man Standing’: 20th Century Fox TV Will Seek New Home for Tim Allen Comedy (Exclusive)
Studio 20th Century Fox Television is looking for a new home for canceled Tim Allen comedy “Last Man Standing.”

Speaking to Variety Thursday, studio presidents Jonnie Davis and Howard Kurtzman said that they were surprised by ABC’s decision to pull the plug on the show.

“That’s the one that’s really an open sore right now,” Davis said. Kurtzman added, “We really were expecting a pickup. The fact that we didn’t get a pickup was a surprise and a disappointment. I think no one was more disappointed than Tim Allen, such a huge star with such a huge following.”

But the series, which was ABC’s second most-watched comedy last season behind “Modern Family,” may not be dead. Asked whether “Last Man Standing” would be shopped to other networks, Kurtzman said, “We’re starting to explore that. If it’s not going to go forward at ABC, of

TV Ratings: 'Last Man Standing' and 'Malibu Country' debut high for ABC
Fast national ratings for Friday, Nov. 2, 2012

CBS won Friday night as usual this week, but it's ABC that's really celebrating after successful debuts of its sophomore comedy "Last Man Standing" -- up significantly from its first season finale -- and Reba McEntire's "Malibu Country," which delivered the network its highest ratings in that timeslot in 5 years. Meanwhile, their "Shark Tank" also hit a high in its timeslot.

Also of note -- after hitting a series low last week, "Nikita" is back on track. Sources tell Zap2it that The CW is content with the show's performance, particularly with legal downloads and streaming, and the show isn't in any immediate danger of getting axed.

Per usual, CBS won the night overall with an average of 9.6 million viewers and a 6.3 rating/11 share in households. ABC came in second with an average of 7.0 million viewers (4.5/8), with NBC at 5.2 million, 3.4/6. Fox was fourth
