Storyline

SPOILER: Orphan Black follows outsider, orphan and street-wise chameleon Sarah. After witnessing a woman's suicide, Sarah assumes the stranger's identity - who happens to look just like her. Expecting to solve all her problems by cleaning out the dead woman's savings, Sarah is instead thrust headlong into a kaleidoscopic mystery as she realizes the dizzying truth - she and the dead woman are clones. As Sarah searches for answers, she discovers the chilling fact that there are more people like her out there - genetically identical individuals who were planted in unsuspecting birth parents and nurtured in completely different circumstances. With no idea who created the clones, she'll need to discover the reason in a hurry as an assassin is killing them one by one. Written by Annonymous

Trivia

To help her prepare to play her "clones", Tatiana Maslany created playlists and dances which she thought epitomised their character. She gave Cosima 'rave dance' (with glow sticks), Alison ballet, and Helena was kept private in her trailer. See more »

Goofs

When introducing M.K., it is said that her accent sounds Scandinavian. It is later found out that she is Finnish, which is a language not even remotely related to that of the original Scandinavian countries. Finnish is more related to Eastern European languages than those of Norway, Sweden and Denmark (anyone able to recognise Finnish accent is most likely aware of this).

There is, however, a small (roughly 5%) minority of Finnish Swedes, who speak both Finnish and Swedish, many of them treat the former as the second language. See more »

Mesmerizing!
23 May 2013 | by See all my reviews

I am just mesmerized watching the actress play so many roles with such differing mannerisms, personalities and even vocal/linguistic differences. I am in awe of her ability. She absolutely needs to get an award for this performance. The premise is unique and a welcome addition to the sci-fi genre. Truly it is one of the best sci-fi shows I have seen in a very long time. There is mystery, romance, danger and with the promise of more characters to be played by Tatyana Maslany, Orphan Black just has to continue for as many seasons as possible. PLEASE. I love the rest of the cast also, (especially her homosexual foster brother who provides some timely comic moments). The excitement just builds and builds as the season unfolds. Love it.
