Storyline

Barry Allen is a Central City police forensic scientist with a reasonably happy life, despite the childhood trauma of a mysterious red and yellow lightning killing his mother and framing his father. All that changes when a massive particle accelerator accident leads to Barry being struck by lightning in his lab. Coming out of coma nine months later, Barry and his new friends at S.T.A.R labs find that he now has the ability to move at superhuman speed. Furthermore, Barry learns that he is but one of many affected by that event, most of whom are using their powers for evil. Determined to make a difference, Barry dedicates his life to fighting such threats, as The Flash. While he gains allies he never expected, there are also secret forces determined to aid and manipulate him for their own agenda. Written by Kenneth Chisholm (kchishol@rogers.com)

Trivia

In the opener to season 4 of Arrow during the bar scene. When the camera pans the room it passes by a flight jacket with the name "Jordan". It seems to be a memorial. Hal Jordan (Green Lantern) has been teased in the show more than a few times. In season one Snart (Captain Cold) mentioned Ferris Air being closed. Barry (Flash) remarked it was due to a pilot that disappeared. See more »

Goofs

Whenever Barry uses his super speed from a standing start, there is a gust of wind that blows in the opposite direction (for instance, if he superspeeds to the left, there is an airburst that blows to the right). Engaging his super speed in this manner would cause a suction effect creating an airburst in the same direction he's moving in. See more »

Good-hearted family superhero fun
4 April 2016 | by See all my reviews

Tuesday nights are "Flash Night" in my house. It's a time when I snuggle on the couch with my four kids, and we tune in to one of the few can't-miss shows on TV.

Is some of the dialogue cheesy? Yes. Are some of the plots thin? Yes. But this is a comic-book show, and comics are cheesy and full of all-too-convenient plot devices. I'm OK with that.

What I love about this show is that it is (generally) safe for young audiences, with very little objectionable material. My kids are enthralled with every move that Barry makes, and were on the edge of their seats from week to week waiting for the confrontation with Reverse Flash in Season 1 and now Zoom in Season 2.

If you're looking for Shakespearean depth, look elsewhere. If you're looking for fun, this show delivers.
