After accused of murdering her family, Nica is taken to an asylum and thinks that she's the cause of the deaths of her family. However, when grizzly deaths start to occur, she then realizes that Chucky, her illusion might not be make believe. She also finds out that the doll is slowly starting to possess anyone or anything to join a huge cult to kill off Chucky's victims, but things don't go to well in the asylum, including for Chucky's long lost friend "Andy Barcley" who tries to stop the cult from getting bigger while also trying to get past Chucky's wife, "Tiffany."
Two weeks before the film was officially released, several Twitter and YouTube users leaked scenes and sometimes even the full-length film. Don Mancini claimed on Twitter that all users who leaked screen captures, videos or written spoilers had been identified and legal action would begin against them. He wrote: "To the geniuses who leaked Cult Of Chucky and tweeted about it, Congrats, not only are you terrible people, now Universal lawyers know who you are". We get a direct sequel to the previous one (they all kind of build off each other, Chucky movies that is), this feels just even tighter knitted to the one a couple of years ago. Of course it has to do with Fiona coming back replaying her role. Guess she hadn't had enough of her father coming after her (her real father is the voice of Chucky, in case you didn't know that).
So while I thought the previous one was way funnier that it had any right to be, this tries the same formula in a different setting. And overall I'd say it succeeds. It's not as good as it's direct predecessor, but if you don't mind the mixture of humor and horror, you will be entertained with this too.
