Superb Acting + Complex plot = Fantastic show
22 September 2015 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

As I was trying to describe the show to a friend of mine, I realized I couldn't pick any other show(s) to help her get what Hand of God is like. The Leftovers, True Detective, The Killing, these were the shows I mentioned to her that had a similarity to HoG. It's really not any of those, though. The story is interesting enough to make you want to know more, but what really keeps you coming back is the characters and the cast.

We're dealing with rich, powerful people. All flawed and corrupt, but ultimately fascinating and complex. The role of Judge Harris was made for Ron. I'm not a religious person, but I was rooting for him while running out of patience. Rest of the cast, all fantastic for their parts.

The show handles heavy subject matters: Rape, suicide, murder, abortion, religion, politics, law, love, etc. Yet it never takes side. It's not a show about religion. The show makes a point to show how it is to deal with difficult situations for different people. Those you would expect to keep it together, don't and those who you'd expect to fall apart are the strongest characters around.

I suggest anyone who wants to see superior acting, interesting characters, and an engaging and complex story watch this. 9/10
