‘Stranger Things’: 19 Totally ‘80s Pop Culture References That Should Be in Season 2

3 hours ago | Indiewire | See recent Indiewire news »

Stranger Things 2” returns just in time for Halloween, both in the real world and in the eerie town of Hawkins, Indiana conceived in the nostalgic minds of The Duffer Brothers. The action picks up three days before Halloween 1984, which means that the year will soon be coming to a close. For those who may not have been alive or perhaps have a shaky memory of the time, 1984 was a big year for memorable events and in pop culture.

The first season reveled in bringing the time period alive in all of its totally ‘80s glory, from Dungeons & Dragons gaming sessions and Eggo waffles to homages to “E.T.,” “The Shining,” and “Rambo.” Hell, even star Winona Ryder’s presence is a timely tribute since she made her early career in such iconic ‘80s films as “Lucas,” “Beetlejuice,” and “Heathers.”

Why Sean Astin’s ‘Stranger Things 2’ Role Is More Than Stunt Casting (Exclusive)

6 hours ago | Entertainment Tonight | See recent Entertainment Tonight news »

Longtime actor and former child star Sean Astin is not a fan of watching horror movies.

“That sensation of jumping because somebody's hand comes through the window to grab your throat -- I don't like that,” he tells Et, which is a bit ironic considering he’s starring in two back-to-back horror projects released in October.

First is Dead Ant, a campy film about killer ants, which Astin says is an homage to those ‘70s B-list horror movies like Empire of the Ants, that premiered at the 2017 ScreamFest in Hollywood, California. The film sees the actor playing an aging rocker with an insane mullet and bad tattoos, who doesn’t quite make it to the end. “I wish I had more time to play with the rest of the group,” Astin says of the cast, which includes Tom Arnold and Jake Busey, but he had fun playing up the Los Angeles music scene. “I felt strangely »

‘Lady Dynamite’ Season 2 Trailer Aims to Tell Maria Bamford’s Life Story in ‘Binge-able F—ing Installments’

7 hours ago | Indiewire Television | See recent Indiewire Television news »

The official trailer for Season 2 of Netflix’s “Lady Dynamite” shows us that no matter how illusory Maria Bamford’s comedy appears, this series is also achingly real.

Following the release of her hour-long Netflix special, “Old Baby,” it’s clear that Bamford isn’t slowing down anytime soon as the star continues to tackle the stigma of mental illness — in an unconventional way, of course. Season 2 continues the story of how Maria (Bamford) struggled with mental illness while also struggling with the reality of being a working actor in Hollywood. Guest stars announced this morning include Andy Samberg, David Spade, Fred Armisen, Jason Mantzoukas, Jenny Slate, Judd Apatow, Judy Greer, and Weird Al Yankovic.

Like its first season, the show appears to continue its standard of blindingly bright, yet charming visuals to engage the audience in the story. However, we now know that the experiments are far from over, »

Eleven Claws Out Of The Upside Down In First Clip For Stranger Things Season 2

16 October 2017 11:42 AM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

The opening season of Netflix’s Stanger Things may have been teeming with memorable moments and breakout performances, but Millie Bobby Brown arguably stole the show as Eleven, a reticent orphan who escapes the fictional Hawkins National Laboratory and, in doing so, develops an insatiable taste for Eggos.

Last seen confronting the Demogorgon in order to spare Mike and the gang, many feared that Millie Bobby Brown’s pint-sized heroine had slipped into the Upside Down forever. Left to rot beside Barb and all of the other victims that had been dragged into the show’s nightmarish alternate reality.

Thankfully that’s not the case, as Netflix has today unveiled the first clip from Stranger Things season 2 and it brings us back to Hawkins High – or, more specifically, its horrific mirror image. And so, after a brief introduction from Millie Bobby Brown herself, who has already muscled her way into »
