Brad Pitt Is the Least Profitable Actor in Hollywood

Brad Pitt Is the Least Profitable Actor in Hollywood
It's hard to gauge who the most popular star in the world is, and by all accounts, that person is probably from India, not Hollywood. But there is no denying that Brad Pitt is one of the biggest names on the planet. And you'd expect that he'd turn more of a profit at the box office. But as it turns out, a new study shows he's the least profitable star in Hollywood.

He's not alone. A few other big name actors failed to turn a pretty penny when it came to their movies over the last thirty years. Analysts from PartyCasino, a unit of the Gvc gaming group, have done an intensive break down and study, which proves that Brad Pitt only brings in ten cents for every dollar spent on one of his movies. Coming in behind him is Johnny Depp, who only manages to pull in twenty cents for every dollar.

Keanu Reeves Wants Tilda Swinton in John Wick 3
Lionsgate is already moving forward with John Wick Chapter 3, and now fans are wondering what new characters will come forth in this next installment, the final chapter in the John Wick trilogy. If Keanu Reeves has his way, it's possible that the actor will reunite with Oscar winner Tilda Swinton, who he starred with in Constantine and Thumbsucker, both released in 2005, although he only had scenes with her in Constantine. Here's what the actor had to say when asked if he'd like to bring Tilda Swinton on board for John Wick 3.

"You know, I had the chance to work with her, I was in two films with her, but had the chance to work with her once, I'm onboard with that. We run into each other once in a while socially out there in the world. She's a remarkable person and actress, so I'm all aboard with that!"

Death Note actor Lakeith Stanfield wants to play the Joker in origin movie

Ever since it was revealed that Warner Bros. is planning an origin movie built around Batman’s archenemy, the Joker, speculation has been rampant about which actor will fill the character’s clown shoes.

The film will be under an entirely new DC banner, one that exists outside of the DC Extended Universe, meaning that Suicide Squad’s Jared Leto won’t be making an appearance in the project. According to the report, Todd Phillips will direct and co-write the screenplay with Scott Silver, and Martin Scorsese will produce.

While the film’s concept may leave some viewers confused, given how the Joker is already an established character within the studio’s other movie universe, it does leave DC with a blank canvas ripe with exciting story, creative team and casting possibilities. As for the latter, actor Lakeith Stanfield has already thrown his hat in the ring for the role.

Netflix continues to branch out with “Death Note”

There’s a notable difference between the types of projects that Amazon and Netflix have been putting out, theatrically speaking. On the one hand, Amazon has been gunning for awards and embracing a theatrical release with things like the Oscar winner Manchester by the Sea. There’s also their burgeoning relationship with an auteur like Woody Allen. It’s a whole concerted effort under their Amazon Studios wing. On the other hand, Netflix has gone for casting a wider net, while only occasionally putting their higher profile films out in theaters, like Beasts of No Nation or this year’s Okja. They only once in a while look at things with an awards type view. So far, they’ve either come up short with would be players like War Machine, or seen things like Beasts of No Nation snubbed. This week, Death Note hits as the latest major Netflix release.

Has Netflix’s Ted Sarandos Rescued (or Ruined) Hollywood?

For a soft-spoken man, Ted Sarandos makes a lot of thunderous news. Just consider the headlines he’s generated over the last week alone with a succession of game-changing deals. The chief content officer for Netflix stole Shonda Rhimes from ABC, lured retiree David Letterman back into talk-show mode, prodded the reclusive Coen brothers into TV production and snapped up Millarworld, a comic-book empire with buzzy titles like “Jupiter’s Legacy” and “Huck.”

Netflix could conceivably rival Disney and Marvel by assembling its own superhero universe. On Aug. 9, two days after the announcement of the Millarworld purchase, Disney dropped a bombshell when it unveiled plans to launch a streaming service and yank its branded family and Pixar films from Netflix beginning in 2019.

Over the weekend, Netflix fired back by announcing it had poached TV’s most powerful showrunner from her longtime home at Disney’s ABC. “Shonda

The Top 12 Composers of the 21st Century, From Hans Zimmer to Nick Cave
In an age where special effects reign supreme, there’s one aspect of the filmmaking process that hasn’t gone through a radical transformation — music. Some of the best movies in any given year would be sorely lacking without their memorable scores, and this has remained true well into the first two decades of the 21st century.

Film composers play an integral part in the filmmaking process, and there are a handful whose bodies of work stand out in recent years. Of course, this list of 12 major composers only begins to scratch the surface of the talent out there. There are plenty of other worthy contributors to the medium who didn’t make the cut — Danny Elfman and John Williams, we’re looking at you — but rest assured that this top dozen represent the cream of the crop.

Bigelow's Detroit Review Pt. 2: Marketable Thriller Instead of Real-Life Tragedy
'Still-living history' See previous post: “'Detroit' Movie: Kathryn Bigelow 1967 Riots Depiction 'Horribly Real' & 'Deeply Self-Serving'.” But I'm a Black American from the 1960s, who knows this history as a history of the lives of my people in this nation. From uprisings in Philly and Harlem, to those in Watts and Ferguson (where I lived for years), these stories have been lived and told from generation to generation with the specific intention of keeping me and black boys like me alive. The idea that the police could and did kill black folks anywhere, at anytime, for any reason – or no reason at all – has been a baseline of understanding in black communities for 400 years, give or take a week or two during Reconstruction and Bill Clinton's first election. For Black Americans, the events of Detroit '67 are not the events of a “dramatic thriller.” They are the events of a tragedy and still-living history we

How Breakout 'Atlanta' Star Lakeith Stanfield Became the Busiest Man in Showbiz
When you're Lakeith Stanfield and you happen to play a guy like Darius, the pothead-philosopher of FX's Atlanta – and not just play him, but turn a hit show's comic-relief role into the sort of weirdly relatable oddball that becomes an instant fan-favorite – it's natural that complete strangers would want to get you high. At the club, in a mall, walking down the street – doesn't matter. "The funny thing is, they assume I smoke," the 25-year-old actor says of the show's fans. "And you know, I don't. But yeah, I get a lot of offers.

Bright: Director David Ayer On Working With Netflix

  • LRM Online
Netflix is very quickly changing the way media is being consumed. Just a few short years ago, they weren’t even involved in original programming, and in the time since then, they’ve managed to be one of the most respected “networks” around (if you can even call them that). They are now hard at work at extending their reach to the feature film department.

Netflix has had a good number of original films hit their service over the past few years, but this year has the release of a few high profile ones. Among them is the Brad Pitt-starring War Machine, the fantasy film Okja, the horror-thriller (based on a manga) Death Note, and the original action-fantasy-cop drama Bright, from Suicide Squad director David Ayer.
