The insignia on the uniforms in this series are known as the "delta" emblems classic to the USS Enterprise crew in the Prime timeline. In canon, that insignia was devoted ONLY to those serving on the Enterprise until it became the fleet wide insignia after Kirk's historic five year mission. The Original Series episode Court Martial shows non-Enterprise crew wearing the Delta emblem. It was not until The Motion Picture, a decade later, that the emblem was 'retconned' into represented all of Starfleet - but it is false to say that it was canonical to only the USS Enterprise, when that was never a formal decision. I don't think the writers have ever seen a single episode of Star Trek, they've just heard people talk about it. This is boring, disorienting, nonsensical, and it lacks any humanity. The characters are stale, there is no plot or logical connection between events, and it's not engaging. Why does this exist? It's terrible.
