Happier than a camel on Wednesday?
The past few years, you may have seen Chris Sullivan (Toby) in numerous high-profile television shows, including "The Knick," "The Americans," and "Stranger Things." But one of his most famous TV appearances didn't feature his face: In 2013, Sullivan was the voice of a camel who was totally stoked for Wednesdays in GEICO's popular "Hump Day" commercials.
'This is Not Necessarily Me'
Sullivan had a little help with his look on "This Is Us." He wore synthetic body padding to appear heavier throughout Season 1, according to co-star Susan Kelechi Watson in Us Weekly.
More than friends
Speaking of Watson, who plays Beth, the actress also appeared on FX's "Louie" as the ex-wife of Louis C.K.'s character. The nature of that role was a surprise to Watson until after she was cast for it — she thought she would be playing a friend of the comedian, she said to Essence magazine in 2012.
Coming full circle
There may be familiarity to Watson's and Brown's on-screen relationship, as well. They attended graduate school together at New York University.
Practice makes perfect
Ventimiglia's on-screen wife (Rebecca) is played by Mandy Moore, who first gained stardom as a pop singer in her early teens. Stardom didn't necessarily come overnight for Moore, however. Part of her schooling included time at the Stagedoor Manor Performing Arts Camp, which also counts Bryce Dallas Howard, Natalie Portman, and Lea Michele as alumni.
Pass the mic
Moore isn't the only singer in the cast. Chrissy Metz sings in a band called Chrissy and the Vapors — not to be confused with the New Wave band The Vapors.
