5/10 Season 5b - the ending was disappointingly nice.

Votes: 30,165

8/10 Season 5 - Great, everything is of a great standard in this, the acting, the pacing the jokes, all consistently good. My only criticism really is not nothing really happens in this season, could have done with something new.

3. Russian Doll (2019– )

Stars: Natasha Lyonne, Charlie Barnett, Greta Lee, Elizabeth Ashley

8/10 A strong mini series with good acting, not a totally original concept - it is essentially, groundhog day the series, but considering how repetitive it was in some ways I wasn't bored and was eager to figure out what was happening. The ending didn't really feel like a great, solid resolve but was OK. Lyon is great, although she does essentially play herself but this is understandable as this is her's and Amy Poehlers script, It was nice to see a female lead in her 30's playing a realistic version of a woman in her 30's, that isnt just a "mom" type - which is rare - I often feel like I'm see 3 types of women on screen, young and hot, mums or mature, so it was refreshing in that way too.

4. Workin' Moms (2017– )

TV-MA | 30 min | Comedy

Four very different thirty-something working mothers and friends try to balance their jobs, family life and love life in modern day Toronto, Canada.

Stars: Catherine Reitman, Dani Kind, Juno Rinaldi, Philip Sternberg

Votes: 4,182

7/10 I liked it, relatable funny characters, but the ending annoyed me...felt like a mixed message at the end or maybe I'm just not sure what the message was supposed to be... confusing ending.

5. After Life (2019– )

After Tony's wife dies unexpectedly, his nice-guy persona is altered into an impulsive, devil-may-care attitude taking his old world by storm.

Stars: Ricky Gervais, Tom Basden, Tony Way, Diane Morgan

Votes: 41,165

9/10 I enjoyed it, a nice little Gervais series that was sad, funny and relatable, I ugly cried twice.

6. The Umbrella Academy (2019– )

TV-14 | 60 min | Action, Adventure, Comedy

A family of former child heroes, now grown apart, must reunite to continue to protect the world.

Stars: Aidan Gallagher, Ellen Page, Tom Hopper, David Castañeda

Votes: 79,385

3/10 This sort of thing is usually right up my street but it wasn't what I was expecting. I watched 3 episodes then googled the rest, was slow and all the characters annoyed me apart from the time travelling kid, there did not need to be that many characters.

7. Brooklyn Nine-Nine (2013– )

Jake Peralta, an immature, but talented N.Y.P.D. detective in Brooklyn's 99th Precinct, comes into immediate conflict with his new commanding officer, the serious and stern Captain Ray Holt.

Stars: Andy Samberg, Melissa Fumero, Andre Braugher, Stephanie Beatriz

Votes: 159,851

9/10 - Season 5 - Good solid fun, no complaints - could have done with a new character or story arch as nothing really happened but I enjoyed it thoroughly.

8. Pose (2018– )

Pose is set in the world of 1987 and "looks at the juxtaposition of several segments of life and society in New York: the rise of the luxury universe, the downtown social and literary scene and the ball culture world."

Stars: Mj Rodriguez, Dominique Jackson, Indya Moore, Angel Bismark Curiel

Votes: 10,355

9/10 This series was EVERYTHING. Wish there were more episodes. Well made, great writing. Some of the acting was a little OTT from some of the cast that hadn't done much acting before, but the story and the characters were bloody amazing, I inhaled it.

9. Line of Duty (2012– )

DS Steve Arnott is transferred to the police anti-corruption unit after the death of a man in a mistaken shooting during a counter-terrorist operation.

Stars: Martin Compston, Vicky McClure, Adrian Dunbar, Craig Parkinson

Votes: 22,783

8/10 Season 4: Possibly starting to get a little formulaic now to the point where I know when to expect the twists but I still really enjoyed this season. Well structured, good acting and a good ending too.

10. Black Summer (2019– )

TV-MA | 40 min | Action, Drama, Horror

In the dark, early days of a zombie apocalypse, complete strangers band together to find the strength they need to survive and get back to loved ones.

Stars: Jaime King, Justin Chu Cary, Christine Lee, Sal Velez Jr.

Votes: 14,483

8/10 Minimal but really tense watch. I enjoyed it a lot. Reading some user reviews it seems that some people had strong expectations due to its affiliation with another series but I didn't realise this so I just got to enjoy it as a standalone.

A collection of animated short stories that span various genres including science fiction, fantasy, horror and comedy.

Stars: Scott Whyte, Nolan North, Matthew Yang King, Michael Benyaer

Votes: 63,022

8/10 Some were better than others (my top 2 were "Suits" "Helping Hand" and "Hunting Day"), some were a bit gratuitous but all were visually very well made and it was fun not knowing what to expect from each one as they were all very different, great, hope they make another series.

12. Back to Life (2019– )

After 18 years behind bars, Miri Matteson returns home and stumbles back into adult life in the claustrophobic coastal town she once knew in this half-hour comedy series.

Stars: Daisy Haggard, Geraldine James, Richard Durden, Liam Williams

Votes: 806

8/10 Dark and subtle comedy about a subject matter I hadn't seen tackled before, funny lead actress, and cleverly structured to give you just a little bit more information each episode.

13. Fleabag (2016–2019)

TV-MA | 27 min | Comedy, Drama

A comedy series adapted from the award-winning play about a young woman trying to cope with life in London whilst coming to terms with a recent tragedy.

Stars: Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Sian Clifford, Olivia Colman, Jenny Rainsford

Votes: 30,090

8/10 Season 2 - not quite as good as Season 1 but still a smart, subtle and compact series about a complicated person.

A New York City grad student moonlighting as a dominatrix enlists her gay BFF from high school to be her assistant.

Stars: Zoe Levin, Brendan Scannell, Micah Stock, Theo Stockman

Votes: 7,950

7/10 Wasn't expecting to like this as much as I did! I would have liked it to have been longer as it felt like it was ending just as everything had really started to develop in terms of getting to know the characters and their relationship. Worth a watch.

15. Cobra Kai (2018– )

Votes: 35,237

10/10 Season 2 is a great continuation of the series, developing the main characters, bringing in new ones and shit getting REAL. Loved it. Can't wait for Season 3, and hoping it gets picked up by a more worthy platform.

9/10 - Really enjoyed this, great performances all around, a great tragicomedy. Well paced, exciting and looking forward to season 2.

17. Ghosts (2019– )

30 min | Comedy, Fantasy

A group of spirits restlessly squabble in an abandoned country home.

Stars: Laurence Rickard, Lolly Adefope, Mathew Baynton, Simon Farnaby

Votes: 1,670

7/10 A bit of a slow starter but ended up being really funny in the last few episodes with a lot of laugh out loud silly moments, however the series was way too short, by the time I started to really look forward to sitting down and watching this of a Monday eve, the series was over! And the last episode didn't feel like a series end at all, so I tuned in the following week and was surprised it was over.

18. Tuca & Bertie (2019)

TV-MA | 26 min | Animation, Comedy

The story of two 30-year old bird women who live in the same apartment building.

Stars: Tiffany Haddish, Ali Wong, Steven Yeun, Nicole Byer

Votes: 2,811

7/10 I liked it, but I didn't love it. Really enjoyed the animation style and it took me a little time to get into the style of comedy - they use a lot of visual and comedic tropes from children's cartoons and then all of a sudden there are boobs.

19. The Let Down (2017–2018)

8/10 Well written, good pacing, relatable characters and situations, an all rounder...I got a little bored towards the end and didn't love the ending.

After a series of events, the lives of a security operative and an assassin become inextricably linked.

7.5/10 Season 2 - Not quite as gripping as Season 1 - a fun watch.

Three suburban mothers suddenly find themselves in desperate circumstances and decide to stop playing it safe and risk everything to take their power back.

Stars: Christina Hendricks, Retta, Mae Whitman, Reno Wilson

8/10 - Season 2 - Not as funny as the last season (Retta had some amazing moments in Season 1).

22. Black Mirror (2011– )

An anthology series exploring a twisted, high-tech world where humanity's greatest innovations and darkest instincts collide.

Stars: Daniel Lapaine, Hannah John-Kamen, Michaela Coel, Beatrice Robertson-Jones

Votes: 344,903

7/10 Season 5 - I enjoyed these 3 episodes (more so than Bandersnatch) but it felt a bit too...nice? Wheres all the bleak at?

23. Weird City (2019– )

30 min | Comedy, Sci-Fi

A Twilight Zone-esque look at the life and people living in a futuristic city where the haves and the have nots are strictly separated by a wall.

Stars: Cynthy Wu, LeVar Burton, Anthony Holiday, Emily Kosloski

8/10 An underated little gem on Youtube, quirky and funny - like Black Mirror with a sense of humour.

30 min | Crime, Drama

An unexpected friendship forms when three teenage girls meet in Shoplifters Anonymous.

Stars: Brianna Hildebrand, Kiana Madeira, Quintessa Swindell, Odiseas Georgiadis

Votes: 2,855

6/10 Found it hard to relate to the characters in a similar vein to "13 Reasons Why" - just teenage crap innit? Still enjoyed the storyline and it was well acted.

25. Gentleman Jack (2019– )

TV-MA | 60 min | Drama

A dramatization of the life of LGBTQ+ trailblazer, voracious learner and cryptic diarist Anne Lister, who returns to Halifax, West Yorkshire in 1832, determined to transform the fate of her faded ancestral home Shibden Hall.

Stars: Suranne Jones, Sophie Rundle, Rosie Cavaliero, Albane Courtois

Votes: 5,685

7/10 I found some of the creative choices a bit trite and OTT (like the looks to camera) but overall I enjoyed the characters, main storyline and the side characters stories also. Some of it was a bit boring though (all the stuff about the mines). I think there may be a season 2 in the works which is why a lot of things were left unfinished.
